As of the past (I want to say) decade, it seems every movie you ever loved growing up or in your teens will be remade or sequel-ized into another piece of trash. Here is a verrrry shortened list of the ones I am aware are in the works:

  • Stephen King's IT
  • Beetlejuice 2 (I presume Electric Boogaloo)
  • Oldboy
  • An American Werewolf in Paris
  • Drop Dead Fred (That one hurt bad when I realized he would be Russell Brand)
  • The NeverEnding Story
  • Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (Part 3?)
  • Death Wish
  • Little Shop of Horrors
  • Short Circuit
  • The Bodyguard
  • The Warriors
I refuse to go on! So, which (if not all) do you know you're going to hate before it is even made?

Gotta be honest, I haven't heard that most, if not all, of these were going to be remade.

I do have to say I have a little trepidation about the upcoming Star Wars sequels, even though JJ Abrams is at the helm. I wonder if he will be using any of the expanded universe books for source material, or if he is going with a whole new story.

The only one I know in that list is Oldboy, I saw the trailer for the US version the other night - that one really sucked.

Beetlejuice...even though Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are making cameo's. They shouldn't re-make it. There are no more original ideas for movies apparently, based on that list.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna hate the Robocop remake. The original is a masterpiece of its age, there is no reason for it to be remade. I like the work of the director José Padilha, but every single image and teaser that's been coming out leaves me cold. Probably I won't even bother to watch it unless some of my movie-savvy friends recommend it, which I doubt they will, since they generally feel towards the original the same way I do.

All of them. Once a movie is done, I can't appreciate it any other way. I'm not sure there are any that I've ever liked.

You missed robocop which i hope will be a big budget movie with a good script. The original was brilliant and a cult classic - i even bought the game on my amiga computer! I bet oldboy is going to be really bad..

I really enjoyed the first Beetlejuice so they are going to have to come with a pretty good movie for me to like it. It's supposed to be a follow up from the original I guess. Doesn't sound like something I would be interested in seeing. Hollywood is running out of ideas.

Total Recall probably did not need to be remade, but I still haven't seen the new one, so the jury is still out on that one.

I heard Beetlejuice was going to have a sequel and my thought was "Whyyyy?"

I pretty much dislike almost all remakes. Why remake a good thing? Like, they remade Carrie for the umpteenth time. Whyyyyy? It's basically the exact same storyline with different actors/actresses. I just don't see the interest and it makes me think people are running out of ideas.

I believe "ROBOCOP" will be a definite stunner with the current technology, Just watch the trailer few weeks ago and I was totally surprised.

The Karate Kid remake isn't necessarily bad, though I prefer that they didn't call it "Karate Kid" since the character studies kung fu. Though in fairness to that, Mr. Miyagi mentions karate coming from 16th-century China, so in a way, I think there is a reason why they made the Karate Kid remake, but with a kung fu twist. The original Robocop and Total Recall films are really good in themselves as well, being directed by Paul Verhoeven.

Spot-on mate! There is a huge difference between the original version and the re-make. Naturally Karate Kid is a world-wide succeeded movie. But the debutant "Jaden Smith" has showed huge promise to the Hollywood.
