Anything to do with the sport of motorcycles from racing to touring to bragging to discussing new models.
What are you doing with yours?
What do you own, what would you like to own?

I used to ride off road a lot in the AMA Dual Sport program.

I'll start this thread off by posting some pictures from my off road rides.
Below is a shot taken in southern Arizona.
That's a Honda XR350 that I legalized so it could be licensed.

lived in Europe for a few years in the 80s

rode a bike - loved it ( Kawasaki Zephyr - retro styled road bike)

cannot do so anymore in Canada I find the season too short and card rivers are for the most part dangerous assholes

US roads are congested with bad drivers, too.

It doesn't help that our road system is in a rundown condition, either.

Another motorcycle web site I've enjoyed for several years is

http://thekneeslider.com/

It concerns the engineering efforts of engineers and enthusiasts towards motorcycles and often unusual applications of mechanical engineering.

This article is interesting:
http://thekneeslider.com/musket-v-twin-advances-with-alloy-barrels-plus-new-rods-and-crankshaft/
I've been following this gentleman's project for several years and it's astounding how much he has achieved with out any major financial backing, relying on his engineering abilities and machinist/casting skills.

Here is the link to Aniket Vardhan's blog
http://www.musketvtwin.com/
There is a lot there to read and many photos of his work.

The factory Royal Enfield looks like this:

Aniket casts and machines the parts necessary to convert that 1 cylinder engine to a V twin:

One of many videos of his prototype.

Another outrageous application of adding extra cylinders to an existing motorcycle.
Fantastic construction skills and very unique.

Building a V12 from a pair of Honda CBX engines would be quite an accomplishment if it was the only motorcycle project a builder ever did, unlikely of course, but by itself it would stand alone quite well. Andreas Georgeades' most recent project is exactly that, the bike shown here, but "most recent" are the key words. He's been doing things with motorcycles his entire life, starting out as a racer but quickly becoming a builder with some very unusual and creative skills.

Link to many photos showing construction of the engine and bike:

Homebuilt Simca V8 Powered Cafe Racer by Malcolm Oastler

When you're an ex technical director for the BAR Formula One team and then a chief engineer for the Jaguar racing team plus designer of numerous race cars, what do you do when you retire? Well, if you're Malcolm Oastler, you head back home to Australia and build a V8 powered cafe racer that looks extremely tidy and sounds like a old street rod.

Malcolm started with a 2351 cc V8 out of a 1959 Simca Vedette, an engine based on the Ford Flathead which is what I thought it was when I first saw the video. There have been other flathead powered motorcycles around, appearing very Harley like but none as compact or good looking as this. Malcolm's design skills are very much in evidence here.
