Here's my take on it, and I've said it before so it'll be short.

The only two people in the whole world who know the truth 100% is the kid, and MJ. Everybody out here making opinions has the right to do that, but it doesn't make you right, and it doesn't mean you know. No matter what any of us went through in our lives, we weren't there.

The courts will decide. It's not a perfect system, but it's all we've got. I side with the court in things like this.

And innocent until proven guilty counts for everybody. Even the strange amongst us.

Second, I actually have been verbally abused and physically abused before. In any event thats none of your damn business. Assuming that I've never had any sort of abuse in my life and telling me to shut the fuck up was not smart.

BTW, SMARTY, since you're so smart, then you would know that 99% of the population has been verbally, mentally and emotionally abused at one time... so even if they've never had any serious physical abuse, everyone's opinion counts.... so you just said shut the fuck up to practically no one...

Whatever. After you've been molested or sexually abused, see how you feel about the subject. Or better yet, let your child be abused in that way and see how it changes your outlook. It seems to me that you keep double talking to please everyone in this thread. That's your perogative and it's okay. But you should have one opinion and stick with it until the end.

As a mother. Mother instinct takes over. I do not think that kid has any reason to LIE unless his mother is a money hungry bitch. He isn't going to think that way most likely. If I was the mother, and my child told me that, what motive does he have against michael? On impulse and as a mother I would have tried my damnedest to kill him. However, I am not a mother. So I can feel about it the way I want. I proved to you that mental and verbal abuse pertains to everyone. Thats what I was saying about proving you wrong. Maybe I didn't prove you WRONG but I certainly opened light on what you said. Why does it have to be sexual abuse as a child? Why couldn't it be sexual abuse as a teenager? or even as an adult? It's all treated the same in psychotherapy! I study this stuff and how it effects people. It isn't pretty. Because I am a bystander, I have the emotional liberty to say, innocent until proven guilty. You mean to tell me that as a mother and being protective of your child you wouldn't atleast curse him out personally and deliver the lawsuit papers yourself? I would. But I am not attatched to the situation. As you saw, when I said, if I was the mother, I got emotional and defensive and protective. Nobody would do that shit to my kid and get away with it. Mothers act in mysterious ways. However something it fishy. The story keeps changing. They no longer have a case because the jury is seeing the boy as an uncredible testifier. If Michael did it, I hope he gets the hot seat. If not, then I hope this doesn't hurt his career much.

And just because you are a mother, does not mean you have motherly instinct. If that was true, kids wouldn't be left to die in basements, abused and killed by their mothers, thrown out of moving vehichles, left in the car so mom can go drink, and on, and on, and on.

The last study I read on abuse was that 3 out of 5 people have been abused in one way or another. That does not equate to 99%. If you like, I can link you to that study. You did not prove me wrong, unless you have a link to a different study, I would love to read it.

You are right in the fact that if I found out anyone was abusing my child, I would want to kill them, cuss them out, whatever. But I wouldn't let my child stay somewhere with someone who had a shady past and had a previous payoff. Whoever it was, it would never happen.

The case is forever changing. When I first heard about it, I didn't believe it and I thought he was innocent. So I had an opinion. I watched some of the reinactments and still thought he was innocent. Then, I started reading and watching other parts and then began to think that just maybe he wasn't, considering this mother is the only one who had the guts ot press charges instead of taking hush money. So just maybe he did it. Now, I hear(HEAR NOT SEEN) that the boy had changed his story. Girl, I now do not know what to believe anymore. I HOPE Michael is innocent because I hope nothing like that happened to that kid. Everytime they think they've got the story straight and you start to form an opinion, they change it.

As you said, you would never let your child go there... I wouldn't either. This is very sad that some mothers don't care about their children as much as they should. Very sad.

Children, teenagers, and adults alike will have the same feelings about an abuser. Take women for example, of age 18+. There have been plenty females physically or sexually abused and believe it to be their fault. I've heard the excuses of why they don't tell the authorities "I was dressed too provocatively" "Dinner wasn't ready in time so he had a right to hit me" "I'm not a good enough partner" "I called him a name" "I raised my voice" etc. Children often allow certain things because they try so hard to please the offender. They want the offender to like them, etc. To me, this is all in the same cognitive thinking. It's called helplessness and some of it is hopelessness. They convince themselves that they deserved the abuse in some way or that they must do what the offender is asking OR they will not be liked. So the abuser still plays off the same fear with adults, teens, or children. There have been girls in highschool that allow their boyfriends to do what they please because if they do not, they will be dumped, or disliked, or not loved. Adult women and men can still think in this way. So to me, the damage is one in the same. however, it is less likely that an adult will develop this behavior unless they have had some sort of abuse as a child. Hopelessness and helplessness are learned behaviors.

and as you said, these are our opinions... i'd like to continue talking about this, but if i don't reply in a day or two, i didn't forget about it, i'm just busy and can't get online... now that the debate has calmed down a bit i think its getting quite interesting :rock
