Gateway drug my ass. I didn't get all experimental for ten years after smoking, and was happilly treating my bipolar without spending a mil at the pharmaceutical companies.
you hit the nail right on the head , the pharm co's are lobbying the govn to keep it illegal untill they can make the big bucks off of it , you'll see it's coming very soon but it will be in pill form and smoking will still be illegal if they can help it.:mad

Yes it should be legal for both medical and recreational use. It's hypocritical to keep in banned when alcohol, the cause of so much crime and ill health is legal. Too much money is being wasted prosecuting and imprisoning people because of this drug. It's so widely available anyway that it might as well be legal. The goverment also could gain more money in taxing it rather than letting all the profits go to gangsters who control the importation of this drug.
the government could definitly capitolize, but you have to worry about all those who already grow it for themselves. back in the day i used to be in to growing a lot. you dont need a seed to grow marijuana as long as you have a leaf. i have cloned many a pot plant in my day and its not too hard to get ahold of seeds either

I think they should legalise it, my partner suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and when he has an attack of it it helps with the pain etc.

I agree Jewel. I personally know the effects of multiple sclerosis as I lost my fiance' to it about 10 yrs ago. She used it to ease the pain and put herself at ease.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I thought that Multiple Sclerosis wasn't a life threatening disease, a chronic disease yes but I didn't think you could die from it. I've heard that they are more prone to getting pneumonia though. He's only had it for five years so hes not too bad at the moment.

ok...so i never used pot for pain. But when my ear was hurting BAD last week...it was one of the only things that would work. I took vicodin, I took my other perscription painkillers, hell i even popped a valium a friend gave me...and pot HANDS DOWN got rid of the pain the best. I did it sort of as a test. Of course now I'm smoking on almost a daily basis again, whihc I realllly need to be careful with because of my sensitive weight gain problem, but for a few weeks its ok, while i have nothing else to do.

Yes, Cannabis should be legal on all fronts. In fact, I think it will be legal in our lifetime. The scare tactics aren't working as well as they used to and there is a societal shift towards acceptance. Want to see some funny videos? Go watch the anti-marijuana videos of the 50's where people get up and act like zombies and spin in circles because they are "stoned". Funny stuff.

has everyone seen the abovetheinfluence commercials?

YouTube - Stop Looking At Me

ridiculous.

YouTube - Above The Influence Facts Response

pretty good argument.

pot should be legalised, and i don't understand the backlash against it.

The social backlash and stigma is fading. Every day people are starting to realize that most of what they "know" about marijuana has been government fed propaganda. The only people still giving it a "backlash" are the DEA and the other authorities.

Twelve reasons to legalize marijauna

1. Legalizing drugs would make our streets and homes safer.
2. It would put an end to prison overcrowding.
3.Drug legalization would free up police resources to fight crimes against people and property
4.It would unclog the court system
5.It would reduce official corruption
6.Legalization would save tax money
7.It would cripple organized crime
8.Legal drugs would be safer. Legalization is a consumer protection issue
9.Legalization would help stem the spread of AIDS and other diseases
10.Legalization would halt the erosion of other personal liberties
11.It would stabilize foreign countries and make them safer to live in and travel to.
12.Legalization would repair U.S. relations with other countries and curtail anti-American sentiment around the world
