"Mistress is 'soul mate,' but I want to fall back in love with wife."

OMG, and he really is planning on getting back with his wife??? How stupid can he be to say such things out loud?

How could he be so stupid as to say any of this out loud? I'm sure the GOP wishes he would just shut up.

She must be entertaining the idea since theyall went off on a family trip this weekend. I don't know??? I don't think I've ever seen such antics from a sitting governor. :willy_nilly:

His antics suit him well for a Clinton style presidency ;):D

A couple of differences:

1. Clinton was running the United States and we were in good shape and not in a war or two.
2. Sanford can't even run a state efficiently and without sneaking out unannounced.
3. Clinton had some casual sexual relationship with an American.
4. Sanford went insane with his "love affair" with a foreigner.

I could go on...but won't.

as quoted in the NY Times

Also Thursday, Mr. Sanford’s wife, Jenny, issued her first statement since the governor’s detailed statements this week, saying that her husband’s actions had been “inexcusable” but that she was willing to forgive him.
“Mark showed a lack of judgment in his recent actions as governor,” Mrs. Sanford said. “However, his far more egregious offenses were committed against God, the institutions of marriage and family, our boys and me.
“Mark has stated that his intent and determination is to save our marriage, and to make amends to the people of South Carolina,” she added. “I hope he can make good on those intentions, and for the sake of our boys, I leave the door open to it. In that spirit of forgiveness, it is up to the people and elected officials of South Carolina to decide whether they will give Mark another chance as well.”
Mr. Sawyer said Mr. Sanford planned to spend the Fourth of July weekend in Florida with his wife and four sons. He restated that the governor, a Republican, did not intend to resign.

I loved the Clinton terms of office. That the republicans saw fit to spend all those millions of our money to prove that a man who got a blow job would try and lie is remarkably stupid.

I don't hate anyone regardless of party.

I appreciate our differences and remain committed to my original statement. I note too that the American people rejected the difference in the complete turnover of goverment.

You have every right to your opinion as do I.

If a state takes federal money, they are obligated to use it as the feds intended. They cannot take federal education dollars and then use it on roads. Same principle.
HA! :24:
Have you forgotten the millions squeezed from Big Tobacco? That was supposed to have gone for tobacco-related education and medical stuff. Tons of it went for highways & pet projects. One a state gets the money they can spend it as they wish, unless someone gets their knickers in a twist.

I agree with the balance of comments here. The governor and legislative branch are co-equal, but the legislative branch holds the purse strings. He can always veto spending plans and budget proposals if he wishes.

I think it would be great if states collected all the taxes and gave the federal gov't what they thought it needed.
