Some people say that weed ain't that harmful and it can be used for spiritual purposes too and some others say that it is extremely dangerous,it kills brain cells and can act as a gateway drug.
So who is right?! Is it bad or not so bad or good?

I dont think theres a right or a wrong, just a case by case diagnosis... I smoked it heavy for years to relieve stress, until earlier this year and stopped because it took my appetite away and replaced it with bile issues and massive loss of weight, causing even more stress, my body just told me to knock it off it had been to long ..Mind you a cone or few every now and then would have been ok, but i used it excessively........ Some can have it and never have an issue, others it draws out any underlining mental or depression illnesses. Personally I wont touch it again.

Almost anything can turn harmful if misused or used excessively, but I don't think that's reason enough to ban something. I think banning weed has always been a political thing anyway, and never really had anything to do with people's interests or health.

Most of the horrors we hear about marijuana are propaganda, from what I understand. I remember being taught that marijuana made you crazy, the Refer Madness propaganda. Since I have never known a user to lose their minds after using, I have to take other warnings with a whole tablespoon of salt.

We need impartial studies of marijuana and its effects. Until that happens, I'll remain skeptical of any warnings.

I agree that the banning of marijuana is a political issue. It is an herb, and like any herb needs to be used with caution. This is coming from someone that does not smoke it. If it's going to be used for medicinal purposes, then it needs to used in ways other than smoking. The inhalation of any kind of smoke is harmful to the lungs, and I think the harm would outweigh the benefits. The prisons are overcrowded as it is, and locking someone up for having marijuana in their possession is just crazy in my opinion.

I've seen documentaries where it can cure or suppress seizures in children with a rare form of epilepsy. I think in some cases it can be "healthy", but since it is illegal on the federal level, there is almost nothing in studies to back up this claim. For the average pot head, I believe it is dangerous because you are putting chemicals in your body, so it could be equivalent to smoking tobacco.

If you look to mainstream media for information on weed/marijuana then get ready for some heavy propaganda. The BBC for example is terrible for this, it just disgusts me how retarded their take on it is but of course many have an agenda to demonise weed as much as possible. I have heard that smoking a joint is the equivalent to smoking 10 cigarrettes. I was sort of lost for words when I read this, what utter bullshit. Any weed smoker could sense that is bullshit from a mile off. I know cannabis/marijuana/weed has many medicinal effects, not to mention excellent results on the 'C' disease and being a better choice for kids with ADHD than ritalin or other pharmaceutical garbage. With all this said, I don't believe cannabis is completely harmless. It should not be abused and should be used in moderation. It is a highly effective medicine when used correctly or it can lead to paranoia and other negative symptoms in some individuals, often because it is abused. In terms of cannabis being as dangerous or even more dangerous than cigarrettes, I just can't shake my head enough at anyone that believes that.

There has been so much misinformation about marijuana passed around the United States for years. Just look at any anti-drug propaganda of the 50's and the 60's. Ludicrous.

Like any other drug there are benefits and there are downfalls. It should not be abused and it should not be used when doing something that could put others at risk. Like, I don't know, driving. So many people do this and I find it ridiculous. You put others at risk. Stay home, smoke a blunt, eat a Hostess pie, and play a video game. Don't put others at risk.

If anyone says it's "extremely" dangerous, they would be exaggerating to the umpteenth degree. It's much safer than most other "drugs". People who bring up the 'smoke in the lung' argument: you can buy a vaporizer.

I tend to think its bad. I have never used it myself. I would like to try it, just to see what it's like. But I've never yet.
I can't imagine anything you put into your lungs/body like that is good.
However, I do have a daughter with lots of health problems and I wonder if it would help her, medically?

This is a great post, because I too would like to know what marijuana has on your body. I agree it is made out to be a negative thing on your body, but then it is made out to be beneficial. I myself have never tried marijuana so I would not know the effect it has on people first hand.

The basic truth is that marijuana is not bad from the little experience I got it's has some health benefits but taking in the smoke particle to the body is dangerous

Marijuana has mixed effects. It can help with pain, sleep, and anxiety in some cases, but may also affect memory, motivation, and mental health if overused. Its impact depends on the person, dosage, and frequency, making outcomes highly variable.
It's not a kind of substance that need to be consume on daily basis,it's something you need to take once in a while I believe it's has alot of health benefits but also has the tendency to effect memory
