And to add: I don't care that he was abused as child in the sense that it should have any bearing on his sentencing. I care about what happened to him as a child because certain cycles of behavior need to be broken. Education and change is key.
Ya know that man (Jessica's dad) is holding on to his baby girl by making her death and the details known in his media appearances so that folks will realize these shits like Couey need to be put to death. Justice is served in this case.
And I don't care how abused he was as a kid, lots of kids are abused and they don't grow up to be criminals. Couey deserves to die.
How can studies show what is a deterrent in someone's mind? Honestly.
I know for me, consequences that are not pleasant, that I do not want happening to me, serve as deterrents, the death penalty being one of them.
Can't rep you again. Good post.Using your childhood woes as an excuse for your adult misbehaviors is such a cop-out. An adult is responsible, no matter what sorrows they had as a child.
Not true.Using that logic, no study would be valid.
:withstupid:if that was my daughter that man wouldnt make it to prisonmad:mad oh the things i would do to him...i could think up some nasty painful shit...hed beg to die in prison getting all the shit from them he deserves by the time i was done
I dont give a shit how much anyone is abused as a child...nothing and i mean nothing excuses doing it to a child when you are grown. mad:mad
Not true.
There are plenty of scientific studies that are valid.
I just don't happen to agree that psychology is truly scientific.
I didn't. I said that consequences that are not pleasant, that I do not want happening to me, serve as deterrents, the death penalty being one of them.I don't completely believe that about you. You just said that the reason you do not kill is BECAUSE of the death penalty?
Right but for people that do fear consequences, consequences are a deterrent.People who commit horrendous crimes don't care about the death penalty. I don't believe they sit and think, "Should I really rape this 9 year old? I might be killed for it." They don't fear death (nor the consequences of an afterlife).
You are right, I probably would never murder someone. You wouldn't kill, no matter if there was a death penalty or not.
LOL!Hey, I agree with you there.
Careful, someone might accuse you of being a Scientologist.
that post was such a turn off
If his peers in the correctional facility have anything to do about it, it will be. But on Death Row, he will be on solitary confinement for the rest of his days, never to have contact with other inmates, from what I have read. Dangit!:madI hope his death is painful.
I hope his death is painful.
