Make Sure You and Yours Know Your Rights

I've been very naive. Having nothing to hide, it would never have crossed my mind to question or refuse a search if I were ever pulled over. This happened in Texas this past summer. John and I have made sure our children know their rights if they are pulled over and a search is requested. This makes me sick (not to mention that the cop was completely unsanitary).

last time I got pulled over I got called a transvestite because there was my girlfriends stuff in my car
I called him a rookie and told him he hasn't anything on me
I told him I served as a Marine and he mocked me
I told him he was harrasing me I got his chief's phone number
When I called his chief he said he would take car of it and call me back
I received no call back

That is so wrong. If they were being processed and taken to jail possibly would have a legit reason but not just for a traffic stop.

Our daughter got pulled over by a local cop. She had friends in the truck with her. Here's how the conversation went:

Cop: "You don't mind if I search your vehicle do you"?

Daughter: "I really need to be going. I don't have time for that".

Cop: "It will only take a few minutes".

Daughter: "No. I really need to be going now".

Cop: "Are you sure, it will only take a minute".

Daughter: "No. May I please leave now?

Cop: "OK".

That fucking asshole KNEW he did not have the grounds to search her vehicle and was counting on ignorance to get her PERMISSION.

I see people pulled over on I-35 almost every day standing on the side of the road while the cops rifle through their vehicles piling up their luggage on the side of the road.
Usually it is young people or Latino's.

People, never let cops search your car!!! Know your rights and do not allow them to be violated.

It is not normal procedure to perform cavity searches, though. I have assisted in female searches before and yes, we do have to pull their bra out and "shake" it and then do the same thing w/ the waistbands on their pants and underwear. We have to run our hands through their hair and pat them down from head to toe as well. And on the rare occasion when we're called to intake to search a female who is in custody, we have to have them strip down and "squat" while we inspect their vagina and, if necessary, remove their tampon. We never EVER insert digits into ANY orifice...NEVER. And certainly not on the side of the road!!!

The way the conversation should go is like this

Trooper "do you mind if I search your vehicle?"
Me "not unless you mind me searching yours"

That said, it was interesting one time in Utah when I was going to the glove compartment to get out my drivers license when a box of .44 mags fell onto the floor LOL

Not all troopers are assholes. Just got to figure em out quick.
