w0000!!!

Finally. Me, Wes and Brian (BDN) got around to doing my brakes today.

The outer pads had about a 1/4 inch of pad on them. The inner pads...

well...

Let's just say lately when I hit the brakes I was grinding metal into metal. Not pad into metal. But METAL into metal.

When BDN gets online and sends me the pics I'll show you exactly what they looked like. My rotors were FUBAR'd beyond belief. The warning pins... those were gone, completely snapped off.

But now my brakes are done and there's just a slight squeel, which is better than metal on metal sounds in the middle of traffic.

Honda puts two screws to keep the rotors onto the hubs. One side came off perfectly, one side we had to drill out. All in all it took about an hour and a half to do I believe. I'm happy, and now I gotta go get wes a case of Coronas for all his hard work.

Brian, when you read this. Thank Wes again for me. :D

mine are starting to squeel so i am going to go ahead and get some straight slotted/cross drilled rotors off ebay for 150 and then get some cheapo pads from autozone and i might go to buffalo brakes or something to get them done? ive never done a brake change but after an oil change, i think it is best to pay a shop to get all dirty and watch them do the work

dude, brakes are easy as crap to do, just takes a little time.

yeah... when the piston doesn't want to retract with a c clamp... it makes it harder.

Not to mention the rock guards and the fact that when you drill the screws that hold the rotor onto the hub, it's harder to put back together.

I paid 55 total for my rear rotors and pads.

35 for the rotors, 20 for the pads. I paid 20 for the front pads.

So in essence I've spent 75 total and have brakes all the way around (except front rotors.)

Man... I have never once taken any of my cars/trucks to a shop. If I can't do it at home, in the dirt... then I'll just have to try harder!!! :booze I would rather get dirty and bloody my knuckles than pay a shop. You could save the $$$ from the labor and buy something else for your ride!!! Get a manual!!! There isn't an excuse in my eyes. But thats just my opinion.

yeah James' brakes were pretty messed up. not only was the outside of the rear discs had grooves in them, but the backsides did too. they were completely shot. im glad they got done because i didnt wanna see James wreck due to brake failure. oh and the squeeling was ungodly awful. now its all nice and quiet. :)

wes said your welcome and not to forget his Coronas cause he needs em before ITB :D

In all seriousness, James, I cant believe you let your brakes get that bad before you finally did them. That was a nasty accident waiting to happen. Im glad you got em done tho. :banana :banana Nothin beats being able to stop again. :lol

james looks like a skinny eminem to me lol. damn htose brakes were worn. i dont think mine are that bad yet. they just started squeeking. maybe i should get replacement rotors and pads from autozone and save myself some money. that way i can spend about 120 total for a brake service and that is cheaper than just rotors off ebay

I had no choice. I can't do them myself. I don't have the tools, I don't have the place. I was ready to do them on EASTER Sunday but my brother wouldn't get off his ass to help.

I know exactly how you feel, waiting on someone else.
