I have a neighbor that lives above me that is SOOO freaking LOUD!! All they do is stomp around their damn house at all hours of the day and night.... Its really annoying = especially when I work nights and sleep durning the day. Even when I am off, I am woken up at 3 in the morning with their loud ass stomping... They sound like a heard of elephants or something... Its very annoying and pissing me off!!!

You have a downstairs apartment? Man, I'm sorry. I had an upstairs apartment and I could hear my neighbors below with their music at midnight and shit.

Look up your lease agreement and see if it's ok for you to call the police (well... I guess you'd be calling yourself? lol)

I'm sure as a dispatcher you could get a few officers in a matter of minutes. :)

I'm so glad I'm done with that part... I feel your pain on apartment living.

You don't want to get on bad terms with them from word go by getting the Police out on them. Maybe you should just go up there and politely and calmly say that you know we all live on top of each other and are going to make noise but you work nights and ask if they can try and keep it down a bit. Also, buying a pair of ear plugs might help too!

Hows about go up there and ask'em to keep it down? Dont need to call the police for something like that, I mean those guys are buisy. At least try to ask them nicely. Then if they dont listen, inform the apartment complex. Then if they dont listen to that, I would call the police. But at least see if they will be neighborly. Maybe someone up there has a GAMMY leg and cant help but walk like that.*shrugs* You never know!

Bad suggestion IMO. You can call the police anonymously and then at that point these neighbors have had their first warning. Going up and confronting them is only going to show them who's mad and who to look for if they don't stop and get a fine.

Keep it anonymous, keep yourself and the kids safe from retaliation.

At my complex with the Ft Wayne police, first call is a warning, 2nd is a 250 fine, 3rd is a 500 fine and the 4th is grounds for eviction.

Sorry James but I disagree. Even if it annonymous, they get a visit from the Police asking them to turn it down just after V has moved in and the're going to put two and two together. I'd be pretty pissed off if a new neighbour complained about me without at least first speaking to me directly about a problem. There's no need to waste Police time if you haven't already tried to sort it out yourself.

I dont want to involve the police because that would be a waste of the officers time. Ive already met the people upstairs and they are nice (alittle on the big side.) But its like they are walking on their heel or something. I can hear EVERYTHING they do.. Like right now, they are in their kitchen walking back and forth in the living room. I hear cabnits shut and everything.......... URG! I think its just worse because I am tired. lol

I do not miss apartment living not one bit. I live out in the country now and I love it. My nearest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away.

After living in a house it probably takes a bit of getting used to, the noises you hear in a flat, it will get less noticable with time.:)

Thats a tough one. I have an upstairs neighbor who is up all day and all night. He's a really old guy, and actually the landlord so I cant really say much. I dont mind it too much because he is usually pretty quiet.
I did have another loud upstairs landlord. His kids were out of control and I did complain several times. I ended up having to move because he didnt care one bit about it.
I dont think talkin to them is going to do anything to help. Maybe ask them to wear slippers. That should help a bit.

Ok call the complex office and ask their advice on your first move.

I had several neighbors which were noisy and I called my landlords. Their first piece of advice was to call the police that late at night. Sometimes the officers never showed up, but other times they did. Just depends on how busy it is. The second way to do it is call the landlords while it's going on.

What's more important to you, sleep or not inconviencing the police?

Thats what happened to my sister in law. She was living in an upstairs apt and was warned numerous times by the apartment complex owners and she kept getting complaints so they kicked her out. Told her she had so many days to get out.

Yeah, it's a tough one really, cos you do need slp too.

I think it's a case of you will get used to it after time, a bit like if you lived on a busy road or by a railway.

Give it a cpl months then reasess it perhaps. :)

Ok, I have the same situation here. The best thing to do is bang on the ceiling with the broom a few times. Usually they will get the message. Do that twice, then the next time, leave a note on their door. You don't want to confront them unless you know them, because you don't know how they will respond. After the note, if they still do it, then call the cops. Your apartment might jsut have really thin walls and thye might not even be aware that they are bothering you. I know I tolerate a lot because our apt walls are so thin, so I gotta jsut dealw ith it sometimes. But if they are belligerant about it, call the cops.
