He's a West Ham legend. My favorite player ever!

I have many fond memories of watching him play!

I also went to his pub he ran for a while near Colchester a few years back on a Friday night. When he saw I was a Hammer, he came round the bar and sat having a couple of pints and a chat with me for over an hour. He was so down to earth, it was just like talking to an old mate. We chatted about our memories at West Ham, obviously in different roles, dogs (he used to breed Bull terriers), Australia and you name it. Guy is a legend on and off the pitch!:thumbup

That was the thing about him. He got such a reputation as a hard man and unfairly as a thug by the media. In real life, nothing could be further from the truth.

He's a real animal lover. He used to breed Bull terriers, not because of the image but because he genuinely liked their lovely nature when treated right. Got a photo at home of one of his twin daughters when she was little curled up in its bed with it. He was also once late for training because he found an injured bird at the side of the road, didn't have the heart to kill it or leave it, so took it to a vet and paid for its treatment, lovely bloke!
