...and this is why animals are endangered and becoming endangered because human beings put themselves above nature. We have a superiority complex and it is a complete disrespect to animals, the very beings we should protect not kill, or cause harm to. The police could ahve put a statement out to people to remain in their homes until the animals were rescued not killed. A lot of these animals are endangered and because of the stupid American laws of what sort of animals people are allowed this continues to happen and will continue. "Bloody yanks and their guns" Thats what goes through my head when i read that. Bunch of rednecks all excited to use their guns to kill animals they likely could have walked right up to and petted. Bet most, if not all, could have been enticed into a cage with food.

The laws to protect animals need to change, obviously.

I have to say it's making me laugh that there are so many saying "why didn't they at least try tranquilizers"...only b/c it shows that you didn't read the article where it stated that they tried it and it failed. It's a shame that so many animals had to be put down, but given the choice between the animals or the public, the officers did the right thing.

Exactly WHO is going to do the enticing with food?

"Here Jim, you hold this ham out and take him to the cage". What do you do to get that job, draw the short stick?

If I would of read some "professional" who is somewhat familiar with the situation agree with you, I might even agree with your comment. By all accounts though, the animals were not in the best of shape.

I love animals, but I'm not stupid enough treat a 300lb plus wild animal that eats meat as a domesticated pet unless I'm VERY familiar with that particular animal. I'm certain all the LEO's who showed up knew all the animals by their first name.
