Sam poses some really tough questions....this is one where people like to BS themselves and say that they prefer truth...in my opinion ( which is opposing this pole) I would say that people like to be lied to. I would rather cry over the truth than feel a "fake good" over a lie....But I think Most people....be it men or women.....prefer the lie....that might explain our fatherless sons and dughters and our divorce rate.

2 HUGE claims but maybe its still worth a thought.

I think Sam means....(analogy on the way)....and the fact that you dont get what he is asking says to me that you would rather be told the truth) I think that some people.....are blissfully ignorant and that most people in the world would rather be told what to think (hence picking ignorance) then thinking for themselves (Picking wisdom as a rule) A perfect example is "A person is smart...people (in a group) are stupid, violent and impulsive.

HAHA.. Good point.. BUT, lets not forget that though they may be an exageration, They are not altogether lie either, ( yes a lie in their current presentation) All those stories ( cept maybe easter eggs) do have a history and a story behind them, Yes there was a santa, And yes there was a tooth fairy.

But Fair, I stand corrected, I cant justify those types of lie's, It is just what we as parents do. But I still don't justify lying .. and yeah I get where that sounds hypocritical.

But see, even if it's an exageration in some cases, it usually turns into a lie. At this moment in time, there is no living human named Santa Clause, that lives in the North Pole, has a workshop, elves, and builds toys for little children, then flies around the world in a magical sled with flying reindeer, goes into your house, drinks your milk and eats your cookies, leaves the toys, and then goes home. There is no living tooth fairy at this moment in time that flies around the world replacing children's teeth for money when they are sleeping.

So basically, you used the names and parts of their biography to fabricate a lie.

Now that's not entirely true. I don't want to be told what to think, I do think for myself, and when in groups, I don't always act stupid, violent, and impulsive. If I do, it's by choice, and the fact that I have ADHD, and everybody else I know is acting that way.

Yes, the truth is preferable but not always. We all seem to forget that humans possess things called emotions. You can find strong people who can handle the truth and you can find weak people that can’t. Like I said in the first page of this thread, I had a personal experience where my father had to lie to me because of my emotional state at that time in my life. Now I have grown as a person and become emotionally stronger. I can now handle the truth. Sometimes lies are good, sometimes lies are extremely bad. I don’t believe we can get a black and white answer.

Interesting thing this because of something which happened recently on here. As some of you are aware, my dog had to be put to sleep recently and Breakfast Sureal posted a lovely poem to help me feel better, about a kind of pet heaven. I know it's not true or without going off topic, I don't believe in that kind of thing. However it was very comforting and a lovely thing to post even though I believe it was a lie so in that case, imo, lying wasn't wrong, if fact, it was a lovely thing to do.:)
