I gave up on sleep...I have to be up in 4 hours itll just make it worse if I actually sleep now.

I have patellofemoral syndrome in both knees, where one of my muscles are stronger than the rest and it pulls my knees out of line. It can be very painful. I have stage two and if it becomes stage three I'll need surgery.
That sucks!
Is there anything you can do to make it better besides surgery?

Not really. I have athletic braces I have to wear when I fence or walk alot or whatever, but other than that and some PT exercises (which are totally not helping!) I just have to grin and bear it pretty much.
Well I hope that gets better somehow.

Is the surgery really serious surgery?
Ummm, Im not sure, but if I do get the surgery there is a good chance I might lose some movement in my knees.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesn't mess up your fencing. 
Meh, if I do get the surgery Ill be out in recovery for a while but I think the most it will do is not allow me to bend my knees right, but I would still be capable of fencing. One of my instructor's had a double knee replacement but he can still fence pretty sufficiently.

That sucks. I'm still unsure if it's better to do them both at once or one at a time, I've seen mixed results with both.
