Legalize?

Threadjacking my own thread:ninja

I hate how a person has to be 21 to buy alcohol. I can drive, i pay taxes, i can vote, i could be drafted and die for this country...but i cant buy alcohol.

That's the age old argument. I myself am only 20 years old. I'm not a drinker so I don't really care either way, I do understand the argument though. There are some real immature asshole teenagers out there though that have no business getting alcohol. Like someone before me said though, drugs are pretty easy to get. I had a solid alcohol connect at the age of 12. Age requirements are just to slow the assholes down, they know they can't stop they alcohol wagon, but they are gonna try to atleast ride the brakes.

Exactly right. Most disease is not cured. Bacterial infection is about the only thing that can be eradicated, but even that is tougher as more resistance is created. And viruses are tough too because the effin things mutate even more.
It's all about the quality of life, though. Even though you can't cure hypertension, you can put less stress on the organ systems to improve their function. What's wrong with that?

What's wrong with watching your diet, exercising, dropping the damn cigarettes, eating your veggies?

I think the answers are out there, they are just not in a pill bottle, sorry hon but that is where the rubber meets the road for me, genetic pre-dispositions are a large part of how we develop disease, heart disease, cancer hypertentison etc. I would say the answer lies somewhere near that.

BILLIONS....and I mean BILLIONS of dollars pumped into cancer research, and they have not even come close to a cure. Hell you have any idea what I donate a year to it?

Autism research, any idea how much money I raise for it? how much I donate to it?

Still waiting for answers. Right now it's keep 'em all alive so we can pump em full of drugs.

I cannot help it, that's the way I see it.

They have to have an age for everything. It does seem random, what you can do at one age and not another.

All perfectly wonderful.
Yet STILL, there are those who do all that and have high blood pressure.
Who drop dead at the gym when they're in the best shape of their life.

Drop the cigarettes you say? Kinda funny you mention that. I thought we were talking about legalizing more of them?

I was commenting on legalizing Marijuana, which is actually what this thread is about.

You cannot govern what folks do with thier bodies, BUT I would think for the sake of your own health you wouldn't do it;)

I have never smoked cigs or pot.

Legalising drugs dosen't mean forcing them down peoples necks. Education is the key here, yes you should be allowed to take drugs but don't come bitching about the consequences when the risks have been damn well made available to you!

Why do educated people CHOOSE to smoke, knowing the risks of emphysema and cancer?

Why do educated people CHOOSE to overeat, knowing the risk of obesity?

Why do educated people CHOOSE to use alcohol to excess, knowing about liver cirrhosis and all those poor dead brain cells?

Because its fun. I know full well the risks of my drinking, smoking and drug taking so I wont moan when I die an early death from it, I know the consequenses but I don't care, I'd rather live an enjoyable short life than a long miserable one because not being allowed to do what I want to is miserable to me. I don't damage anyone else with my lifestyle so I don't really see that it's anyone else's damn business!;)

Peter, I am wondering if your opinion would change if you had a child. If you had a child to care for, would you be more likely to live a so-called healthier lifestyle, in order to ensure that you were around to raise the child and possibly to enjoy grandchildren?

I was searching around the web and found this article concerning legalizing marijuana:

Should Governments Legalize and Tax Marijuana?

Ive always argued in favor of legalization...in part because of the increased money through tax, elimination of the black market for pot, and the money saved from policing, court, and prison charges.

What are your thoughts on this? Legalize or not?

:homo:

However the problems as mentioned before such as addiction and abuse will definelty give the opposition material to argue the point.

I don't believe in legalazation of addictive or seriously harmful substances, but the worst thing I've noticed from heavy pot users is slacking-off and occasional gluttony lol

YouTube - Canada has gone to pot

Hey Dove, is this really the case in Canada?

I think they're overstating it a bit. THey seem to be giving the impression that people are openly smoking it in public and that we can just walk into a store an dbuy it. The only way you can buy it at one of those stores is if you have a prescription, which isn't all that easy to get.

But Canadians are far more tolerant of pot than most. We definitely have our share of smokers, and they're outspoken about legalization.

I honestly think they should legalize it. Think about it. Theres so many products out there for it. That they claim is for Tobacco. Pipes, Bongs, BLUNT Wraps, Hookahs, Rolling papers, little baggies, ect ect. And I mean come on Blunt Wraps are pretty obvious for what there used for.

True, head shops are a boomin' business. Bong-making is becoming something of an artform.

I figured it wasnt that open. Is small possession likely to get ya a small fine, kinda like a speeding ticket here in the states?
