well she's obviously mentally ill... that's pretty sad, for both persons involved
Barring the probability that this woman may be suffering a mental illness, I feel a little sorry for her.
Imagine the pressure that she was under to come to the conclusion that this was her only way out. Surely even if you don't agree with abortion you must believe that this is definitely not the answer.

I don't think any of you would have condoned someone with mental health issues raising a child, either. Sure, it's a tragic story, but at least when she's incarcerated, she'll receive the therapy she needs to start her long road of recovery.
I don't imagine she would have had the funds to receive a legal abortion in the first place...and as far as we know, the gunshot wound probably caused her to lose her uterus, as well, which means she won't be able to do this ever again.

Posting bond means you only have to come up with a certain amount of cash up front and a bail bonds company bails you out. Usually on that amount, you'd only need $100-$150 to get out, and her father is probably the one who posted the initial amount to get her out.

Seems to me that she should have done the "right" thing in the beginning and asked her dad for the $$ he just used to bail her out of jail to use towards her having an abortion when she first found out she was pregnant. :dunno

If this lady could have gotten an abortion easily, she may well have taken that option but the reality is that with a lot of poorer people, in most countries, there are no funds for these types of procedures. Some of these people can't afford to raise children & yet are forced to bring them into the world or find other ways to abort.
There were times not that long ago when abortions were done with wire coathangers in peoples kitchens because that was all they could afford. Many people developed severe infections & died.
I'm not saying that an abortion is the only answer but sometimes it is better than the alternatives.
Can I just add that I find it a little worrying that no one feels any sympathy for this woman - we don't really know her circumstances & yet everyone is quick to judge her as a crazy bitch who shot herself in the stomah without a second thought. Man, that is harsh.

I dont think she is a "crazy bitch". Granted what she did is not something that happens everyday. Im sure she does have problems but that doesnt make what she did right either. She could have easily given that baby up for adoption. To me, that would have been a hell of alot less painful and alot less expensive than what she is paying for now. And you cant say she didnt have anybody to stand behind her to help her, because obviously she has her dad whom is helping her out right now. I do have a little empathy for her but I have the greatest empathy for that baby who didnt have a chance in this world.

All i got to say is shes old enough to know were babies come from ... Either close those legs are us protection .... She has no one to blame but herself and she should PAY .... for what she did :dunno :dunno
