when and why did Kobe bryant change his number from 8 to 24. i was watchin the lakers/Cavs game and just noticed it.

dont watch to much basketball but im just curious

It was not really new. It was from the beginning of regular season. Anyway why did he change his number? I guess that he is trying to beat Michael Jordan's #23.

He changed his jersey from #8 to #24 because he wore #24 in high school, and he wanted to wear it, and he said that the #24 signified the start of the second half of his career. It was at the beginning of the year

some say it was a money grab, but he gets no royalties from jersey sales
