Knowing my place

My lot in life
Calls to me
Bringing me home
To where I belong

I've tried to be strong
To grow, to learn
To become more
Then I now am.

To believe in hope
And know change can come
To find strength
Leave weakness behind

I've offered thought
To what others see
Taken faith and belief
In what they percieved

And yet in all this
One ending stands
Nothing can change
Who I truly am

My lot in life

Subtle are the words
I speak in silence
Reminders of my place
No matter my dreams

A grin at kindness
Knowing the truth
What others see
An image at play

Weaken to the mind
Where the truth still lays
Hearing the words
So often played

My lot in life

To where I belong

Reminders in pain
Tears push away
Lies offered to calm
The sadness within

Truth however sad
Always takes hold
A better place it could be
If it were not for me
