We Americans are just resistant to change. IF it happens, it'll take some getting used to, but we WILL get used to it eventually.

If change was like sex, you'd be all over it.. :24:

Seriously I have Americans that come up here and get use to the $1 and $2 dollar coins..

We also take American money almost anywhere.. Most US Border towns will take Canadian Money but go 35 miles South and that ends..

Hey Greaser - tried to send you a PM but got a message that your PM box is full. Got a message for ya if you clear out your box.

There was only two messages. But I just deleted em. Try again.

Btw...I wouldn't mind the coin thing, other than it being a pain in the a$$ to carry it on my motorcycle. My vote is still leaning towards "no"

I have no idea why people get so defensive on it.. I have much less coins now than I ever did before.. Oh well your government still has to approve it..

Mind you if saving money is a priority it will happen.

You have to be smarter than your coinage Dana, lol. Seriously, I understand what you are saying. When we were first in Australia, I collected the $1 coins unintentionally with my American mindset on coins. But by day two I had the "Aha!" moment of not having to pull my wallet out for a dollar or four. Truly, it works far better than what we have now. You'll like it if we ever do it.

LOL You're talking to a guy whose pulled 5 or 7 dollars worth of quarters out of his pocket...

With dollar coins you would have had between $20-$28 bucks in your pocket.:willy_nilly:

It really is a better system once you get used to it.

I see it as the dollar has become so devalued it is now to become a coin.
As of now a penny is basically useless.
I like to keep at least 7 or 8 ones on me at any given time.
I would rather have it in my wallet.

I'm surprised we haven't gone more to plastic. Cash cards instead of old-fashioned cash.

That would be fine if the phone lines had better reliability. Been up against that situation too many times around here. Without bills you are screwed. If we are going to bring back coins why not GOLD pieces? Wait.....the feds can't mint bogus gold coins without having the gold.

I would not be happy to have an even heavier purse, however, if they make the change then they make the change.

We all thought the same here in 1987 when the loonie was introduced...the extra weight is a non-issue. We even have the toonie, and it all works fine.
