I've been dealing with some kidney stones for a little while, and let me tell you, it is not a fun experience.
The pain has been unbearable :'(

I found myself in excruciating pain that prevented me from being able to sleep at night. It was so painful I ended up calling an ambulance to take me to the hospital because I wasn't sure what was going on, and I couldn't drive myself there in this condition. I've had my share of painful situations, but this is definitely a pain unlike anything I've experienced. Nothing seemed to work to relieve the pain. Any pain medications were just thrown back up. I tried to sit, sleep, stand, and cradle any position I can think of. Ultimately, no pain would be relieved.

Turns out, after a CT scan, the diagnosis revealed that I was dealing with a pesky little 7mm kidney stone. How does something so little cause so much pain. šŸ¤Æ

Since then, the pain comes and goes. I'm on some meds for the pain, and a different set to try and pass the stone. I haven't been on my computer much, as the lack of sleep I get at night is just making me want to do is lay down and sleep during the day.

I can't be the only one to have had these on this forum. Anyone else with experience?

I have heard a man passing a kidney stone is the closest we will ever feel to child birth. I tend to believe it. Fortunately I have not had kidney stones. Have the doctors not offered other options like blasting it with ultrasound?

I've had kidney stones and can confirm they are no fun. Thankfully I was able to pass them without assistance, but it felt like they ripped fire across my back along the way. Hoping you feel better soon, Jordan!

I have never had kidney stones myself and hopefully never will as it seems like a horrifyingly painful experience.

Hope you get better soon!

I swear that some doctors enjoy seeing people in pain. I do not see a reason why not to perform the procedure unless the patient refuses it.

My sister had them and they were horrible. The hydro blast was rough. She would not drink water and loved Mountain Dew so they was her own worst enemy

Sorry, Jordan to hear you're having problem with your kidney. Avoid eating oily and too salty food. My 18 years old nephew had a kidney stone. He's high fever. He chilled and we brought him to Madonna Hospital in our city. He was diagnosed with a kidney stone. Dr. Bautista, kidney specialist prescribed him a medicine, a very small tablet and the price was in dollar $ 300 one tablet only but the kidney stone was removed through urination after 3 hours. We thanked God for that I pray you'll be okay and pray too because God heals and He never fails. Amen.

So update,

After a few weeks of this pain, it got to a point where it was the worst itā€™s been, got the fever, and puking all that fun. So went back to the hospital. They admitted me to stay and had surgery the next day. All and all was a few days of me in the hospital.

For something that was suppose to be a simple procedure, there was some complications and have to go back for round two in a couple weeks. They ended up putting a stint in so I get to be pissing blood for a little bit with a nice burning sensation to follow. Enjoy that xD

Let me just say, so thankful to be Canadian and have all this covered for free*. Not to knock down my southern friends, but the cost of just a visit to the hospital is stupid high down there let alone having to stay overnight, get surgery, anesthesia, and the works. My prescriptions on the other hand, will cost but itā€™s covered by my benefits through work.

I know the site went down during all this and I apologize . Wasnā€™t anything I could do from inside the hospital.

* I know technically we pay for it with higher taxes. But Iā€™d rather that honestly.

Itā€™s honestly the worst pain ever. Especially if itā€™s a bigger stone.

I do drink fluids. I think my case was a calcium build up. But I donā€™t know for sure.

I'm with you there on the health system. A lot of people have complaints, and I know it's not perfect, but I'm glad I don't have to worry about being in crippling debt if something like this happens. Hopefully you're on the mend now.

US health care is better. My primary has plenty of Canadian patients who pay for the privledge. Yes it is stupid expensive if you do not have insurance but keep in mind Canadian health care is far from free. You pay for it every day with every transaction basically. Glad you are on the mend. Drink a ton of water. Now you know what it is like to have a baby I am told.

Operation number two was on Friday. They where able to blast the stones this time around and put a new stent in.

Still in immense pain. Therefore not doing much these days but lay in bed and cry lol.

Will be looking to go back in a couple weeks to remove the stent. I'm hoping by then the pain is gone. It's been way to long of this shit for something that is suppose to pass on it's own in a few days to a week.

I have not had kidney stones myself but I did have gallstones and they were super painful and awful to deal with.

My other half has been dealing with kidney stones and he says they are awful to deal with and passing them is the worst.
