I used to stock in a grocery store, and the ethnic food isle (ESPECIALLY the mexican foods) has different packaging and language on it than stuff in the rest of the store. That is marketing, and marketing is based on demographics. You go to little mexican shops, and they only carry products in spanish, made for hispanics. That's their demographic. You wouldn't try to sell something to a certain group if you knew they wouldn't like it, would you? Didn't think so. I mean, why can't people just see the family as just that? A normal American family, sitting down to enjoy some KFC. They have to get all pissy about the fact that black people might be offended. If the commercial featured white people eating stroganoff while their butlers shined their shoes, people whould be just as mad.
I mean it's not like they're giving away free watermelon, grape soda, Kool-Aid and Old English to black people who buy the dinner...

Why are people so senetive about this kind of stuff?
I agree. I don't believe in the whole hyphenated title deal. As far as I'm concerned, if you were born in America that makes you American. If you were born in Africa and immigrated to America (legally) then you can call yourself African-American. The same goes for whatever nationality is involved whether it be Chinese, German, Turkish, Canadian...

Therein lies the difference James. Most rednecks I know (myself included) just don't get offended that easily. I'll be honest, if Dollar General was to make a commercial like that I bet their annual sales would quadruple.
I think that people perpetuate stereotypes because of their pride. I LOVE FRIED CHICKEN...and am actually mad that fried chicken is now a "black thing" EVERYBODY LOVES FRIED CHICKEN...how could you not? But somehow blacks have "claimed" it....Its people that are the problem....not how anything is portreyed on the TV
