I bought my mom the knock off from Mr. Coffee (which is somehow also made from Keurig). She loves it. It's quick and easy, and she's the only one that drinks coffee (I use it to make hot chocolate and the like).
And yeah, like NukingFuts said--they make the "my K-cup" thing where you can buy and use whatever loose coffee you like and use that instead of the pre-packaged cups.
Gone thru several Mr Coffee coffeemakers over the years.
Which here means I would be spending a minimum of 200 bucks a month on coffee.Yah I will keep my Kuerig..
Best place to buy the coffee cups are Bed Bath and Beyond or Costco and get the 96 packs..
It comes out to about $0.67 cents a cup of coffee..
First came into contact with one when visiting an office in Vermont. They had one hard piped into the Keurig. Had no clue what it was. I believe Green Mountain Coffee started the trend with this type of machine, thus it was real popular up in Vermont to begin with.
Ended up buying one. Love it. Two problems.
1. I drink more coffee now because it's quick and easy, and every cup is fresh like from a brand new pot (at the home)
2. If you're on well water, you should clean the machine every annually, and then there still isn't promises that the machine will degrade to the point to where it won't work over years.
That said, well water will do the same to steam whole house dehumidifiers and tankless water heaters, and both those items should be cleaned annually depending on the water source.
Sorry Fred, I should of mentioned when we bought the house, we could tell that the water was hard, and installed a decent softner/filter system for the house. Still, if I don't clean that Kuerig every year, I will get a problem.
