F.Y.I. to all who were on my myspace account ...and in a way warning to all who have one. I had to delete my account due to it being hacked. Someone got thru that and gained access to my e-mail (luckily that one was only used in ref. to myspace) ...and into my computer. The computer so far is fine...all passwords changed to everything!!! no virus no nothing other than the problems we originally faced. But for the time being I will not have a myspace account anymore. So be careful with you myspace accounts. I thought I was safe when I didnt add anyone unless I knew them (or they were regular posters here) but I guess ya never can be too safe...:(

Kat, what made you think that your MySpace and e-mail were hacked? Did you have the same passwords for both accounts? Were the passwords easily guessed?
I can tell you from experience that hacking into e-mail is almost impossible unless your password is guessed or someone had physical access to your computer.
If you ever believe that you have an account that has been compromised, like e-mail or MySpace. Don't delete it, just change your password to something that cannot be guessed. My passwords are a mix of random letters and numbers with some of the letters capitalized. Never use any words that can be found in a dictionary, they can be hacked through brute force attacks.

Since you changed your passwords and never plan on useing them again, can you tell me what it was? I'm curios to see how strong of a password it was.
You can go here to check the strength of your passwords. Everyone should make sure to use strong passwords.

Man Tim! I have to say that I am impressed with your knowledge on things like this. In the past you have posted things that blew me away because of the useful information.

So I checked my password and mine is weak. :( And I checked Myspace and mine just had some comments was all.

Lets just say that I have had my share of hacking in the past. I worked for a company once that had a large WAN (Wide Area Network) and the IT guys would always call me to check out any new software that they would install. I would hack my way in and let them know where the holes were so they can plug them up. I was pretty good at it too, with all the warez and exploits. I never got into any illegal hacking. I don't need to go to jail. If anyone needs help hardening their system or thinks that they are being hacked, just shoot me a PM and I'll help you out.

There is nothing wrong with writing down a strong password and keeping it in your wallet or purse to remember it. It will ensure that NO ONE from the internet will get a hold of it. And if someone goes into your wallet and gets it, that means they will also most likely have access to your computer. And let me tell you, give me 5 min with your computer and I will guarentee that I will have all of your important information.

Like what kind of important information? You don't even have to hack my computer to get into my credit card online pages (I pay online) but you'd have to hack into my online payment pages to really get into my numbers, and I think both of them block out the full number on their servers.
