Oh yeah...and I can show you entire counties in Georgia that people know "better slow it down to 5 over on the Interstate"...same county my group got pulled over in a government car, LOL
Nothing to do w/ the higher ups AT ALL. Cops are competitive by nature and they rag on each other "ha ha, you got 3 DUI arrests last month...I got 2 just on Saturday night!!! How about you handle all the report calls and I'll handle all the REAL work???" It's all about probable cause. Busted tail light or improper registration often leads to stops that result in DUI arrests or drug busts...THAT'S the important stuff. The citations are collateral damage while looking for those bigger things...but it has nothing to do w/ the higher ups or quotas.
Mainer's number than a pounded thumb. There could a speed trap, the cars could be fully in sight and they still don't give a fuck...
That's not strictly true... they do that, but only if you have plates from New England... if they're from anywhere else, you're fucked.
My officer coworkers tell me the county big wigs pressure them to bring in more citations, that's what made me think that.

Cops can be pricks, you just have to know how to be a prick right back. I take great pride in the fact that I can have a glorified highway traffic cop (state patrol officer) walk back to his cruiser mumbling under his breath that he'd love to get me for something else. Kind of funny watching them walk away angry. That said, I have all the time in the world for them if they want to run a weapons check.
I always just act polite, I have no interest in egging someone into abusing their power against me. My ex was such a dumb fuck, he'd constantly challenge police officers (he drove like a fucking cock bang, 20 over constantly, swerving in and out of lanes constantly; cop magnet)...it's like, why make it worse?

Nine times out of ten, you're correct. Crap, NC is nothing but a money market for speeding tickets due to insurance. Pay the court cost (and or pay a lawyer to do it), no problem. Decide to fight them, and you'll be paying for it on your insurance for years to come. Organized crime made legal by the state and insurance companies.

I wholeheartedly agree. One time in Escalante Utah, a highway state patrol "accidentally" found my .44 ammo as it fell out of the glove compartment and I did forget to mention the guns LOL (my bad, and I was out of state). However, I had the proper paperwork and I ended up on the side of the road talking guns and the area for over two hours with him (still got the speeding ticket though, going 26 in a 25).
As I previously mentioned, always "yes sir", "no sir".
Finding a guy that served can help as well.
Like I said, cops are people. But, you just need to be careful of the bad ones.

You know what? Wow, just wow is my reaction! Fred, read my thread in VIP. Maybe then you'll understand what it's like to get unfairly harrassed by the police! I could go on, but I wont. End of the day, if a law is broken, however small and you get a warning, count your self lucky.

A HUGE thing here is ticketing truckers. Funny how on the citation there are 3 places for things they find wrong. They always fill them up at $200 per violation. In one city they tow the truck to the city yard and impound it and you do not get it out of there unless it is repaired. You can not even have it towed to a shop.
I had a good friend pulled over with a brand new truck. The Sheriff said he could find something wrong even with a new truck leaving the dealer.
It is about the money and there is no doubt in my mind. And despite what you say Natasha I will never be convinced then police are not given the hint that there is a quota. Of course they will never admit it nor will it be in writing. Maybe it is not that way down south but it is up here.
Also if you are out of state in Ohio and in particular if you have MI plate then you better not be going anything over the speed limit.

to comment on this or to let is slide... SHe pulled me over after riding behind me for a couple miles, proceeds to overanalyze the recepit of purchase even making the claim she didnt know for sure it was purchased that day. Until after about 2 minutes of "riot act" about i could say anything I wanted without proof she sees the date on there. Then proceeds to tell me that if it was her she would have had the insurance changed immediately or wouldnt have left the lot, gives me s peech on how I could/should get a ticket, but she is the "nice" one and will let me go. And about how it is a huge deal to do so. We find out from our insurance in the state of Alabama you have 14 days to move coverage... So she was thoroughly out of line telling me i had to already have it day of purchase. Plus the full speech, when looking at a young male who was visibly freaked out at the time wondering how he was gonna travel state lines with this kinda thing happening.
And yes I know to never let a cop search my vehicle, regardless of whether I ave anything to hide or not, I have rights that shall be honored til probable cause is given.
