Ah, didn't realise the date of it, I only saw it because someone brought it up in this thread as relevant today.;) It still needs changing though, it seems silly to me that you have to say you believe in god to swear allegiance to your country but the whole swearing allegiance seems pointless anyway, its just words, actions speak louder than words.

I don't know for sure but I seriously doubt the pledge of allegiance is still recited daily at school.
A time when prayer and reverence were part of our daily lives and corporal punishment both at school and at home was expected we learned to respect others. I think that my children were short changed in that regard. Their friends who have all the self-respect but miss the part of respecting others. All these young heads full of mush with self-confidence but no real knowledge scare me to death.

We recite both the Pledge to the Flag and the Texas Pledge daily at our high school. Then we have a moment of silence.

So would you then disagree with having the pledge to the flag and texas pledge at your high school?
Correct. I think it's important that kids learn to value family, nation, culture, and flag, but our children's moldable mound of mind mush is far too important to be given over to government manipulations. The US federal government was created subordinate to the people, and needs to be kept in its place.

I will never bring a child into this selfish, cruel world.
And please dont ever tell me what i do or dont do ever again
No see every parent teaches their kids a certain way to act and what to believe in, right and wrong. You indoctrinate your kids to think a certain way. Its just natural. To deny this is to deny reality.

Yeah, I agree that what the teacher did was wrong. I was just saying that we're all indoctrinated in some way.
