Labor Day weekend and no MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon for 22 hours straight. I understand there will be a telethon but only 6 hours and no Jerry Lewis. Times they are a changin' not always for the best.

once they dropped Mr. Lewis you have to wonder where the charities directions are going, are they closer to a cure or are they curbing costs?

I know what you mean Fred. I used to watch it w/my mom. It was tradition.

I saw on the news a few weeks ago that he was no longer hosting. I don't figure that bodes well for the telethon.

hell, I remember collecting donations and going to the local tv station and dropping it off...

My mom kept the TV on all 22 hours every Labor Day.

Letting Jerry Lewis go would not have been an act in favor of curbing cost as he was not paid for his time. Additionally, MDA does a lot more than research for a cure. They run many support groups and clinics at hospitals for MDA, they pay to repair equipment such as wheelchairs and leg braces, and they also send hundreds of children a year with MDA to special summer camps.

Perhaps they have enough money in their endowment that they only need to run the telethon for six hours?
