Eh, America would have gained Independence much like Canada did later on without Revolution due to global circumstances that the British Empire was facing around the world and its foreign assets.

I don't think the American Revolution was bad, but usually revolutions throw countries into chaos. The french revolution is a good example of this.

I wouldn't really call the civil rights struggle a "revolution". I consider real revolution to involve mass, armed conflict.

Of course you would believe that, it's what we're trained to think. But a revolution can happen without one shot being fired..

And chaos is a good thing, if for instance you notice how organized we all our now, planners, cell phones, computers, always watching the clock.

THAT to me is chaos. Revolution burns things down to the lowest common denominator, the cause, the people

I call non-violent "revolutions" paradigm shifts.

Chaos is always a terrible thing. There needs to be order, justice and law. Just overthrowing century's old institutions that WORK (I'm looking at you, French Revolution) and thinking that you can step outside of reality to replace it with a better government in a week is lunacy.

Chaos is what we are in the midst of....That's my belief...And I've been around a few days:p

What we are dealing with right now is the grip of something much bigger than we are willing to admit.

And we should all be fighting against it

I do something, I vote and occasionally take part in protests. I'm not sure what else you think I should do. I dont really see starting a civil war everytime something pisses me off is going to make the country better.

How many times in the history of this country...Have we overthrown the government because something pissed us off?

Should be an easy answer:p

Re: Just an Observation from the peanut gallery: We're all lambs following a blind ey

It all boils down to US support for Israel who occupied Palestine territory.
The first nations to legally recognize Israel were the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Ireland, and South Africa. The first nations to recognize Israel de facto were the US, Guatemala, Iceland, Nicaragua, Romania, Uruguay...and Iran :eek

Immediately after Israel was established as a nation...Palestinians and Arabs attacked Israel, a country who to that point had done NOTHING except occupy land given to them by the United Nations.

Here's a list of the 33 out of 46 countries in the UN at the time who voted in favor of establishing Israel as a country: Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Belorussian SSR, Canada, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Sweden, South Africa, Ukranian SSR, USA, Soviet Union, Uruguay, Venezuela, Haiti, Liberia, and the Phillipines.

And don't forget the fact that the reason Palestine was split in the first place was their inhumane treatment of the Jewish population already living there.

And hands down by far, historically, the nation that has had the most to do with the entire Israel/Palestine conflict is GREAT BRITAIN, not the US. Don't make it sound like the US single-handedly created Israel.

History is fun, and it's even more fun when I can use it to disprove your hare-brained logic.

All correct. However, the reason given for the partition of Palestine was not exactly due to the inhumane treatment of the Jewish population already living there, it had more to do with resolving the conflict between the two nationalistic interests in the region (The Jewish population, and the then Arab majority). Also, previous agreements mandated for (Balfour declaration) a Jewish state within Palestine.

With that being said, the irony will never escape me that the state of Israel was partly founded on the basis of Jewish terrorism against British and Arab interests in the mandate.

Personally, I'd say that most of the anti-american sentiment in the middle-east is due to a history of intervention in the region (economically, culturally and militarily) over the past 30-40 years.
