market trends, comparing year to year supplies, supply and demand of the fiscal year, the status of OPEC etc etc

$95.34 was today's price though.

You can check other websites:

Bloomberg.com: Energy Prices

I believe the price for today. But forecasting anything a year in advance has to have a high degree of inaccuracy. Especially something like oil that has so many variables in it.

The vast majority of the forecasts they have posted have been dead on, I've been looking at this site for a while now and they have a very good accuracy. You can compare them to all the other numbers of various sources, they will match up.

Oil price has many variables, and the price may drop a bit, but I promise you that you will never see gas under $2.30 ever again.

Just be glad you aint in Britain, gassoline is around £4-5, $8-10 a gallon right now!:willy_nilly:

Which is why I'm so comfortable with the prices going up. I don't know European economy as well as I probably should, but doesn't Britton have one of the most powerful ecos in Europe?

Thanks for the update AEF. This isn't really a surprise, but thanks for mentioning it anyway.

High fuel prices are the catalyst of the free market making green tech more readily availiable. As oil gets more expensive, the market will move towards renewable energy.

Don't sweat it dude. Free market has everything under control. ;)

Green tech will take a ridiculous amount of time to fully replace, hell, even half replace oil as our main resource. We'll never ever fully get off of oil or to the extent its need for a very long time.

The UK and America are two different beasts. Not nearly as much cars in the UK as there are in the US. Plus, the average car in the UK is much smaller. In the near future, you will see more and more wars over oil, and I wouldn't be surprised if our oil dependant economy takes a nose dive into another depression. Alan Greenspan even thinks it will happen.

oh i will. god damn rediculous how bad the prices have got. i remember the good ole days of paying .79-.89 a gallon at a full serve station. when it got up to 1.20 i was depressed. now i would be thrilled with 1.20 again

sad part is if gas gets that high here we would be thrilled to pay 3.00 a gallon again. next time gas comes down alot we'll be presidential election time most likely.

last year before this time gas went down to almost 2.00 a gallon. as soon as election was over. the next day the prices went back up.

We watched a documentary on oil today, and they interviewed several economists that said we will never see gas prices below $2.35 or around that. They suspect gas will be around $4.25 in about 2 1/2 years.

if the government wants the gas prices to come down for election time then the prices will go down.

all that damn tax included in the price can make it go down pretty good.

it wont go down really low like last year but i would bet the presidential election time gas will come down quite a bit. trying to get a certain party into office

heres something about the tax you pay in your gallon of gas

Taxes - Taxes, including federal and local, account for about 14 percent of the total price of gas in the United States. Federal excise taxes are 18.4 cents per gallon, and state excise taxes average 18.2 cents per gallon. There may also be some additional taxes, such as applicable state sales taxes, gross receipts taxes, oil inspection fees, underground storage tank fees and other miscellaneous environmental fees. Add that to the state excise taxes, and it can average 27.4 cents. It could be worse. In Europe, gas prices are far higher than in America because taxes on gas are much higher. For example, gas prices in England have risen as high as $6.65 per gallon, with 78 percent of that going to taxes.

I don't see how the government will somehow magically make the gas prices go down when it costs nearly $100 a barrel.
