I was with the judge to thwack number 5. That was a spanking. The continued licks plus the language utilized were beyond the pale. It appears to me that the father's poor judgement and impulsive behavior has been passed along to the child. I question the discernment of anyone who bestows an expensive automobile on their child. If you give them the best, what do they have to look forward to and what is their incentive to be productive? This looks to me a case of reaping what you sow. I think both father and daughter will soon, if not already, regret their actions. If justice is served, his days of judging are over and if that is the case, her gravy train just ran out of fuel. A lose-lose for the family but a win for the local justice system. Maybe they can find a person of better integrity to fill his seat.

That is interesting..........Wonder if this is true?

Hmmmm.....in no way does this justify the verbal and physical abuse the girl went through - but she may well have been a little problem child - but the "judge" used piss poor judgement raising the girl.

There's always 3 sides to any "he said she said story" - his, hers, and the truth.

Interesting the mother who actively participated in the beating is now involved with the daughter in going after her father.

As bad as that video was, there is something significant missing here. Very sad story in many ways.

Here we have had people trying to discredit her for having a Mercedes given by Papa.. But one has to wonder why even she would willingly admit to this fact unless there are many other facts. Giving a disabled child a Mercedes while she is attending University is like hush money is questionable in my opinion..

Again the parenting skills lacked greatly and so did judgment but I have no doubt that even as Hillary Adams released the tape knowing her condition of cerebral palsy is only get to a point where no amount of money can properly assist her.. One can only wonder the true motive behind her actions..

What are you talking about? Here you have people discussing an issue - nothing more. Since when is pointing out the behavior of all parties involved trying to discredit anyone? The point is there is more to this whole story than we are being told. And it is quite possible this girl might not have been an angel - thats not an attempt to discredit her - it's called being open to all possibilities and getting the entire truth.

It's also possible the Mercedes and university tuition was hush money - but that's just as much speculation as any other theory that none of us has any evidence or testimony of.

And none of us has a crystal ball to determine how the girl was performing and behaving at the university.

One thing is now certain - by outing the father, for whatever reason she did it, he won't be able to earn enough money now to maintain the car or the tuition, so both of them are going to suffer fiancially.

No one is attempting to justify the judges behavior in the video, or wrongly "discredit" the girl - I'm just not willing to buy the girls side of the story 100% on her word alone. It is quite possible that mother, daughter and father are all dysfunctional to some degree.

Wow, back up the train... You picked ONE line to jump on.. Did you bother reading the rest of the post ?

I know we are talking issues and you yourself stated it would be nice to know all 3 sides of the story.. Well reality says you never will.. But the interview I saw from her was quite interesting and she hid none of what was disclosed just as much as the one I posted that you quoted

By the way I was just continuing from that post and not targeting anyone. I highlighted the two lines to make a point not to lay blame.. I agreed with CityGirl more so than anything else and continued on the topic you had posted. And last but not least I even state at the end "One can only wonder the true motive behind her actions".

Might I remind you this is not debate section.. Calm down..

Well, yeah.....I agreed with the rest - nothing else to discuss when you agree unless you just like reading your own posts, now is there?

Might I remind you this is not debate section.

You might, but why would you? No rule against disagreement outside the debate section.

Calm down..

If I get any calmer, I'll have to go back to bed. :p Relax - enjoy the discussion. :)

The judge is suspended (with pay pending investigation) and hasn't sat the bench since the video went viral http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/State-Supreme-Court-Suspends-Judge-William-Adams--134373273.html?de

I thought he had stepped down until this was all to be cleared up..

Regardless it will be interesting to see the outcome. I have yet to see many of these cases see true justice and money and political connections buy freedom.

No matter how you cut this, the abuse in the video cannot be ignored, and he admitted to doing it.

Reality says if I was to hit my daughter like that I would be sentenced to many years of jail by a guy like him..

I know the guy is not yet guilty but a clause should be put in that while suspended he will be paid but if proven guilty would be required to pay back the money earned during his suspension. This is not a paid holiday..

But we're forgetting a very important issue...the statue of limitations has long passed.

I heard it mentioned somewhere that the statute of limitations might not apply in this case because she was a minor at the time.. I am not qualified in US Law to know if that is true or not but there is no statute of limitations in Canada for minors, and it only starts to kick in the day you turn of legal age. This may be what the courts are looking at, I have no idea.

Judge Adams, 51, started his public life when he was elected county judge in 1999. He was appointed a court-at-law judge when the position was created in 2001 and has been elected to two more terms. His current term runs through 2014. http://m.caller.com/news/2011/nov/14/judge-william-adams-fights-block-restraining-order/

I guess it is ultimately up to the voters. I'm reading where there are calls for him to resign or be impeached and fired.

So Tasha, I looked this up and I have to wonder.. This is what I found and wonder why they would not go after him under this code.. 10 years for one Disabled Statute and 5 for the other.. 10 for minors ?

I am not familiar with Texas Law but looking at Section 22.04 looked like it had to do with Penal Code under Injury.

I'm not familiar w/ Texas law, but I'm thinking that the charges would probably be misdemeanor charges instead of felony charges. Probably simple battery w/ a family violence stipulation.
