Haha, yes. I have heard of bon jovi.

However, none of the songs have passed through my ear drums; or at least to the point of recognition that such and such a song is bon jovi's.

Basically, music to me is like colors to man. It is a particular type of music, and if I like it, I listen. But I most certainly do not try and discern the artists. If it happens to be named that such and such a song was by such and such an artist or group, then if I care to remember, I might remember. Otherwise, I just listen to music.
