It's Just Instrumental

My niece will be starting third grade this fall...She has decided to take music...I found out she was directed towards piano,violin,flute...My niece wanted the trombone... I was surprised. Seems like there are certain instruments she can play and others are off limits. What's wrong with a woman sliding the trombone ? Are there specific instruments for men and women only ? I find this interesting with tongue in cheek.

They size up each child to instruments, length of fingers, arms, height...etc have a lot to do with the instrument they get to start learning on. At least that's how ours worked back when I was younger.

We were measured too when I played the violin. I gave it up cos I was crap and my dog literally howled when I practiced :24:

My daughter was petite in junior high school. She ended up with the trumpet. My son did as well.
