I always watch or read the happenings of 9/11 and our 7/7. Not in a morbid way at all, but just to be informed about and to admire (for want of a better word) those who went through those times.
At the moment I am watching a documentary about 7/7/ tube explosion, one of the survivors of it.
It's called 'Extraordinary People'. The damage done to him was horrendous and a wonder he actually survived.
It's very graphic. I am weak-stomached, but for this kind of programme, I feel the need to watch it, to learn more about what happened, what the survivors went through at the time.
The bombing on 7/7 wasn't on the massive scale of 9/11, but even so, it was still horrific. I have watched a few interviews with survivors and with relatives and friends of those who didn't make it.
It is just so heart-wrenching. You feel absolutely so humble to say the very least - even useless.
Horrific, but will watch it to the end. I can only admire those who were able to recover and get themselves back to working afterwards, despite their extensive injuries/disabilities.
I am so choked up, but the fact that they have carried on with their lives says it all - they won't be beaten.
I always think about 9/11 too.
I know we have done threads on this, but it doesn't go away does it?
