It's a same he couldn't get his shit together. Before he got hurt last year he showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately he got hurt in, I think, the 4th or 5th game of the season and never lived up to expectations after that (personally I think they kept putting him back in before he was properly healed and he just kept reinjuring).

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia tailback Isaiah Crowell has been dismissed from the team by coach Mark Richt following his arrest on felony weapons charges.

Richt announced the dismissal of Crowell on Friday. Police found a gun in Crowell's vehicle early Friday morning.

Crowell was arrested at a vehicle checkpoint on the Georgia campus at around 2:20 a.m., according to Athens-Clarke Police Department spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow. Among the charges he faces are carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon on school property.

Crowell consented to a search after officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Police found a 9-millimeter Luger pistol under the driver's seat with an altered serial number.

Crowell was released on bond Friday afternoon.

As a freshman in 2011, Crowell led Georgia with 850 yards rushing.

Time for Coach Richt to start cleaning the roster of the thugs. I think there were 11 that couldn't play for a lot of the season last year b/c of legal troubles. Yeah...time to clean house.

It is a shame with the opportunities presented to them that they can't stay out of trouble. This goes on at far too many schools.

Amazing.

Carrying an illegal firearm without a license (with an altared serial number to boot) ON school property and the guy makes bond the same day.

Either Georgia has some mighty lax gun laws or they don't want to enforce what they already have on the books.

Most cases the law is already there, they just don't want to enforce it and lock people up.

It"s not until you hane another Va Tech that people scream bloody murder.

I'm not a Dawgs fan but I have a lot of respect for Richt. Sitting firmly on the hot seat and he dismisses his most talented player instead of trying to find a way to keep him. It sucks but it was what needed to be done. Maybe Crowell can earn a second chance elsewhere and still turn things around.

Georgia has very lax gun laws. I read on article on it last night, actually...13th most lax of the 50 states, if I remember correctly. Hell, I have a friend who was being harassed by another friend's ex and the police arrested him sitting in an alley watching her apartment w/ all kinds of weapons in his vehicle. He hasn't been to court yet and he's bought even more guns since.

With the serial number, federal law has been broken.

People say we need more gun law laws in the U.S, we just need to ENFORCE the ones we have.

Reading about this young man, he sems like a jackass and the team would be better without him.

He never quite lived up to the hype, unfortunately, b/c of an ankle injury. Besides, of all the prospects last year, Malcolm Mitchell was the one to watch and he doesn't seem to be the trouble maker that Crowell was.

The way he let people know he picked Georgia was everyone's first warning that this joker was a mistake.

Another wannabe with bling.
