Is this wrong?

To the best of my knowledge, and it varies place to place legally, but it's considered abandonment and any items left behind become property of the landlord and are his to do with as he wishes- give away, donate, that sort of thing. I do believe selling them is prohibited though.

I do think it's wrong but that's just cos when my family where evicted in 1997 we were given a week to get all our stuff out the house. We didn't have anywhere to go so we managed to get the landlord to give us two weeks to get it out. After 9 days the landlord went back what he said to my family about having 2 weeks to get everything out, changed the locks and a lot of our belongings were just thrown into the street and people took them.

It was really upsetting and I wouldn't just take anyone's belongs without asking.

So a couple months back my neighbor across the hall gets evicted, his belongings are locked up in the attic of the building and the landlord told us that if he doesn't pay his back rent within 30 days he is going to throw all of the guys things away and that we can take from it whatever we want, so It's been about 2 months now and the guy hasn't paid his back rent or made any attempt to get his things, asked the landlord about it again and he says he doesn't care, so I just looted the SHIT out of his stuff, grabbed a TV, a shit ton of CD's and books, is it wrong that I did this? He didn't pay his rent or make any attempt to get it back, I see no reason for all of it to get thrown away.
I don't think it is wrong at all. clearly the guy didn't care about the rest of his stuff.
i say good for you.

That's def wrong. The laws are there for a reason - to protect both landlords AND those that end up leaving, or being evicted. You should have been given the proper amount of time and a week ain't it.

It all depends on your local laws.
With that said
I don't feel what you did is wrong.
Just don't take the underwear.

:clap:clap:24::24:

Shank's right, it really depends upon the local laws, though for the most part, if things are left behind during an eviction, and proper notice is given, the property is usually deemed as abandoned. Some places even have it in their contract that property held may be sold to make up for the loss.
