In pro football some of the players did go overboard with celebration...dancing for minutes at a time...IMO that was excessive and rules were in order.
I expect this excessive celebration rule never applied in school until recent years.
Whats excessive?
Jumping up and down a couple times?
Going down to the ground and kissing it real fast?
A recognition in god that you are a believer?
An swat on the team mates butt?

Lets take bowling ...you get a strike...you pull your hands down toward your torso and do a quarter or half spin....smile ...is this excessive no.
Holding your hand up pointing to the sky{for god} is celebrating as much as shaking the fists in the air a few seconds.
We cant take away all emotion when we win...why play?....we play to win..when we win we feel joy.
What next?
Audience cant clap or yell?
Coach cant yell his approval after a good play or a win in track?
Perhaps we should start throwing old woman out of bingo for showing happiness when they win.
How about them race car drivers and champagne?
Or winning in basket ball with 2 seconds on the buzzer....then people are jumping up and down in glory.

To drag these rules into high school sports can have its place...if dancing etc were to occur for minutes on end.
What they have done is however is apply excessive celebration as no celebration.

To further it was a punishment for a show of faith in god.
Perhaps if a kid does a quick prayer at school we should take his lunch as well?

How about all those people that win on game shows......go take their prizes?

Or a child "hey mommy I can count to ten listen"....."1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10"..."yahhhh mommy."

Yes you can,now go stand in the corner for saying "yahhh mommy.".....when your father comes home tell him what you have done."

To add further....as wrong as this is...its worse punishing an entire team for future events.
Akin to being on a school trip and one kid shoplifts so we charge em all for shoplifting.

While I do not support violence who ever made the call against this kid...could use a good hard slap in the face.
Why?....for abusing the loose interpretation of the rules.

Might be pitiful but if a known rule a selfish act by the runner
Did he think his act was brave or would immediatly change things

I would be pissed at him if I had been in his team

According to the clip...no one is upset with him...this indicates to me it was a bogus call.

Heartless gutless robots who seem interested in expanded authority rather than what is the best interest of the people.
It appears as if liberal ideology has crept into high school sports.

This is why I hate the way politics twists words and makes up definitions. Instead of liberal, why don't we call it authoritarian, since that's more accurate?

Could you provide the source of your informaiton where it was a liberal who created this rule in high school sports?

All create rules...however it is liberals who impose these silly rules....its no secret Joe.

The NFHS publishes playing rules in 16 sports for boys and girls competition and administers fine arts programs in speech, theater, debate and music. And the ruling did come from them..

However, the rule that disqualified the Columbus team came from the National Federation of High School Associations, and it can't be appealed.

While the National Federation of High School Associations has served a purpose...we can see that they are out of hand.
Also since it cant be appealed it is draconian in nature.

I had watched a video yesterday {dont know where its at}...a similar happened in football.
Highschool...it was a long pass...the guy was clear...he caught it and started to run...it was a sure thing he was going to make a touchdown.
The guy holds his free hand up before he makes the inzone..he was in violation of excessive celebration..lasted about one good second...no ritual or anything after he gets in the inzone....get this he was in violation because he didnt wait until he made it across the line...but did it before crossing the line.


Wow....we best start getting bicyclist as well..as many take the hands off the bars and start to celebrate several feet before the finish.
How about runners that raise their arms while busting through the ribbons....its the same thing.

IMO its pathetic...the kids should just drop out of sports if it has become this draconian.....perhaps its worse in some places than others...but they dont pull that petty crap around my local area.
