I see all these commercials about children and the spreading of germs and I'm like what happened to children being children? I know when I was outside playing as a child I wasn't worried about the friggen germs around me. I mean they're everywhere...
I don't see how telling kids to be careful around dirty things is bad? Of course they go outside and crawl around in who knows what but I think its a good idea to teach them to wash up.

There is a big fear factor which gets pushed down our throat by the media. If everything you see or hear was to be believed, I wouldn't eat anything because someone or other has come out with just about everything being bad for you!

its not even the "kids spread germs" commercials...every other commercial is for a drug now...and they never tell you what its for...theres always happy people, or something rediculous and they're like "talk to your doctor about this!" and you don't even know what it is...so you go to your doctor like a dumbass and its for something you don't even need. Not to mention everyone's running to their doctors for everything now...uhoh...i got sad..i need a pill...my sad pills made me want to kill myself, i need another pill, my suicide pills gave me the shits, so i need another pill, my shit pills gave me a stomache ache, i need another pill, ect. America is OBSESSED with drugs now...we still teach kids that marijuana is bad (even though it has less side effects than a lot of things) but lets just fill their heads with the thoughts of endless prescriptions...sounds like a great idea! :willy_nilly::wtf::confused

my mom is a nurse and she can verify that people are on drugs for stuff they don't really need drugs for...maybe the number has declined, but the number of unneccessary drugs is at an all time high...not to mention, my dad works as a maintainance worker in an ER and he was rubbing his eye, a doctor friend of his asked him what was wrong and he replied that his eye hurt and he must have had something in it...the doctor gave him VICODIN prescription! i'm sure these things don't happen all that often or everywhere, but that is messed up...you don't need vicodin for a sore eye! suck it up...seriously...needless to say my dad didn't use it, but its just the fact that the doctor would be so free. sure a lot of doctors are cracking down, but i know a lot of doctors in my area of the world are all about giving pills to everyone they can

I think the answer to this question is a big fat yes. When I was younger I was a bit of a loner and didn't fit in with too many crowds and kind of did my own thing. The doctors made me think that because of that there was something wrong with me. I was given so many anti-depressant pills and social behavior enhancing pills that as I got older my actually emotions had to do no work at all. I became numb and felt almost nothing on a regular basis, not happiness, not sadness, nothing. All because I was a bit of a loner as a kid? I suffer from some pretty intense panic attacks now which my doctor relates to all the pills that I was given as a child. To think if they just left me the hell alone I could have avoided all this.

My kids will be hypochondriacs because I'm one of those psychos who worries about germs so much that I wash my hands 30 times a day and would wear a mask if my boyfriend wouldn't stop me.

My kids will do as they're told, not as I do. I'll work on my car, getting dirty and disgusting then eat a sandwich without washing my hands. I work with my hands.

Makes no difference to me.
