Vegetarian and vegan diets are often linked to clarity and compassion in spiritual traditions. Does eating lighter actually quiet the mind or does it depend more on mindfulness than on meals?
I am a Hindu and in Hinduism, there is a great emphasis on eating plant based food. I tried vegetarian diet for over two years and food I ate always uplifted my mood. Even today I eat more plant based foods and less animal based food.
Many spiritual traditions see plant-based eating as a way to calm the body and mind, but real clarity often comes from mindfulness itself. Food can support peace, but awareness gives it meaning.
