for whatever reason... not knowing if they're religious or not? wouldn't the term "Open your thoughts" or something be better?
Is it right to ask others to pray..

I don't think it's wrong to ask, they can do it or refuse.

It's reaching out to God for whatever reason. health, help, motivation when lifes got you down. Take life into you're own hands.
But if God already knows what is gonna happen and its his will are we asking him to change his mind? I can't get my head around it.

I don't really think it's wrong, it's only wrong if you ask someone knowing full well that they are not religious, if you don't know one way or the other then it's not wrong.
I don't see the harm in it. Religious people for the most part will ask for others prayers. You can either pray for them or keep them in your thoughts if youre not religious. The fact remains that some people believe that the power of prayer works. Maybe God changes his mind when so many people get together and pray for something better to happen. I've seen it work and I believe in the power of prayer. There's nothing wrong, I don't think, in asking for prayers. People can react by whatever means they choose.
There's nothing wrong w/ asking people to pray for you, IMO. If they don't pray, they simply won't do it. Some people even go so far as to say "IF you pray, please pray for me...if not, send thoughts my way" or something like that.
Nothing wrong with it no. They have a right to say yes or no.
The key word here is ASK. No harm in asking, it's not demanding or anything

God gives us free will, to do what we want. Sometimes we make bad choices, wrong turns. BUT, He is always with us. God is always the same, never changing. So He doesn't change His mind. As for prayer, just talk to Him, works wonders.
No harm in asking. I'm an atheist but if it'll make someone feel better I'd be happy to pray for him/her. They shouldn't expect me to get the prayer exactly right though.

Asking someone to pray is a little too contemporary for me. I prefer to ask them to kill a chicken and sprinkle it's blood on their doorstep instead.
