Someone said in another thread that they were proud that they were white. Another retorted that they were racist. I don't necessarily think this is true...my argument is that your skin color is part of your identity. I think It IS ok to be proud of something which is a part of what makes you who you are. Being proud doesn't mean you necessarily brag about it or think you are better than anyone...you can be gracefully proud, right?
Also, I think society views it NOT ok for white people to be proud...but ok for blacks and other races to be proud of their race/color. If a white man wrote a song that said "Say it loud, I'm white and I'm proud" he would get a lot of heat from it. Yet blacks can use those lyrics, and it's ok.
