They would have viewed him as a threat. A goose can hold their own fairly well in a fight. Them buggers bite hard. It feels like pliers grabbin' your ass.

Yeah I think they're like that...there's a lagoon near where I live and they get pretty protective especially with their young ones around.

haha! reminds me of when I lived in Stoke on Trent, a friend of mine went into Hanley Park to shoot some of the swans there and I followed a couple of minutes later only to be confronted by my friend running towards me and the gate at breakneck speed with about 4 swans and dozens of ducks in hot pursuit. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Haha! I always find black swans always sound such pussies compared to our larger, native mute swans. I remember I was down the river once and a cygnet had fallen into the flood ditch and got seperated from its mother. I rescued it and manage to locate its parent on a nearby lake. When she heard it, she came bombing across the lake and I got the fuck out of there pretty quick! Mute swans can break your arms with their wings, the're actually one of the heaviest flying birds in the world, I rescued another one once which was getting beaten up by a swan couple and had to carry it a way down the river to release it someone else, that thing must have weighed about the same as my greyhound!
