Standards like shoes and shirts required is not discrimination and is a good thing.
Is it discrimination to deny someone entry to an establishment based on dress?

I think a person should be decently dressed when going out especially when he/she is attending some enclosed spot!
Some restaurants in New York require guests to wear jackets while there are hotels which require guests not to enter the lobby in pajamas! I don't see anything wrong with that because in such places dress code is supposed to keep certain decorum.

You'd be horrified at the wlay I dress than.
About once or twice a week, I'll come to school in sweat pants and a t-shirt. People walking in PJs though, that makes me cringe, especially with the cold weather coming around.
Yes that's definitely discrimination. Some people choose to dress the way they want to. They should not be judged based on what they wear.
If you can't adhere to the dress code of an establishment then they have the right to not let you in. Especially if they post the dress code which most places do if they have one. People can dress the way they want to. The point being that establishments have the right to turn down service and entrance to people that aren't willing to abide to their dress code. How is that definitely discrimination?
People have the right to dress the way they want but if you're dressed like crap don't expect to get the same treatment as the next man dressed properly. My paremts friend a few Christmas' ago wanted to get a visa gift card and went into a bank looking untidy in a sweats and the man didn't help him. I still think if hed been dressed and properly groomed hed of gotten the service he wanted.

Yes. If your establishment has a certain standard of what is acceptable it should be able to get rid of people it finds inappropriate.
I have the right to not let people in my home if I think they look like a complete cunt. You may not like that but that's my right. Same goes with clubs, pubs and shops, really. They may lose business because of it but thats their right.
