I think "older" is the right answer, and it might work out because perhaps some who is older is in a state of senescence?

I googled it and there are no animals ending with "acub"..

I'm still about half done.
I thought iguana cub...but I dont think a baby iguana is a cub...and its a reptile really

Have you tried leaving that place and start on another corner?.. I think there might be a mistake somewhere.. I've looked all over, and most of the animals that produce cubs don't fit with your letters..
