Yes another death thread ;)

Anyway I was thinking before.....is death set in stone? Is there a time and date set where we will just die?

Or is it completly up to us to decide?

Is it up to us to decide to deliberatly walk i front of a speeding train? Or jump off a bridge?

And if death is set in stone.....what happens if we end our life early?

No there are too many variables...

Or is it completly up to us to decide?
Depends if you're suicidal. :willy_nilly:

Again it depends if you're suicidal....

And if death is set in stone.....what happens if we end our life early?
We relive our lives until we get it right. That's why we experience Dejavu. ;)

On a long enough time line, the survival rate of everyone drops to zero...

I would like to be able to choose my own death time. If I reach old age and become infirm or uncomfortable I sincerely hope society allow me the same privilege that it allows animals: a dignified death.

I wouldn't mind time traveling to see the past and future, but I would not want to live thru many generations, it would be too hard to see loved ones pass time and time again. I don't want to be immortal, I don't want to die anytime soon but eventually, yes.

My understanding is that the stance against suicide is religion driven. Never mind loss of dignity, excruciating pain and daily misery, God wants you to hang in there as long as possible, even if you are a brain dead veggy, except I think religion got it wrong. Does it really matter if you die by natural causes or arrange for it early while you still have the ability to control your life? It is a personal choice.

Do you mean sort of like the Fates and cutting strings?

Then yes, I think it is. I think that when my time is up, whether I'm on a roller coaster going 70 mph with my feet dangling 100 feet above ground, or laying on my couch watching a movie for the umpteenth time, I'll go. It's easier for me to think of it that way. But of course, there are ways of speeding the process up. But that's when you mess with fate and destiny and you throw off everyone's life course, even if only just a little.

That is so true! :thumbup

Except fate and destiny are not set in concrete. You do not mess them up, only change them by your actions and the actions of others on a daily basis.

"No fate but what we make." (movie quote) :)

Fate is an illusion. We are set to die at a set point in our lives. But we can definitely control it. If someone ends their life early, then thats when they were set to die. Simple as that.
