Is Auto Racing A Sport?

Hey I'd be a hypocrit if I said any weren't sports cuz they are competing but I agree a line should be drawn somewhere. Hell I was a cheerleader for 6 years of my life and that one people still argue whether or not its a sport. HAHA IT IS DAMNIT!

To me, a sport requires physical conditioning, and an argument can be made that they take on some g-forces that the body needs to get used to, but they are sitting down for four f'n hours.

If you use physical conditioning then baseball is not a sport.

You watch the end of the next night time race at Bristol and tell me there is no physical conditioning required.

The conditioning in baseball comes into play around their hundredth game with very few breaks inbetween....but yeah, I would consider baseball a borderline sport


Physical speed also is a factor with baseball, even though it its in short bursts

Yup, it is also a sport more geared to burts of speed and power over long periods of just jogging. However, as physically demanding and brutal it can be there is no question of whether or not it is a sport. Not even close to borderline

Now Boxing.....that is NOT a sport IMO. 2 grown men beating each other up?

Yeah, I know they have to be fit and all that, and it takes some skill, but to call people bashing each other ur a sport is just wrong I reckon.

I agree, accept the large muscle groups part. You do realize they are sitting down? Yes they deal with g-forces, as once being a flight control avionics specialist on F-16 fighter aircraft I know a few things about g-forces and what they do to the human body. However, they are strapped in very tight anf the g-forces their bodies endure are minuscule compared to a fighter pilot.

Yes it is. My daughter trains her rear end off year round for her competitions.
