This is all quite silly, actually.

If any of you had half a brain you would see the real truth here...

Obama gets the Nobel peace prize, hours later the US conducts a missile attack against the alien's moon base. These two incidents are directly related since it was Obama that single handedly saved the world from alien attacks that were planned next week.

:24:

awesome... I was actually thinking something similar when I woke up this morning and saw he was given the award.

But look at other Nobel Peace Prize recipients...

Martin Luther King Jr got it in 1964, long before his accomplishments were realized
The same thing with Desmond Tutu, who got the peace price for his work in apartheid even though it didn't end until 10 years after his Nobel prize.
The same can actually be said for others who have received the Nobel peace prize... It's not always about what you did, but what you are trying to accomplish. :dunno

So they are now giving out the prize under the NOTION that someone might do something spectacular? :24: It was politically motivated, we all know it. It was another "See how far this world has come.....The United States elected the first Hawiian president" :24:

WTF. I hereby declare the Nobel Peace Prize a meaningless tool by which the International community and numerous NGO's exercise power over and bribery towards bigger states that they would ultimately not be able to control with International Law.

Any good news about Obama is bad new as far as some of our "patriotic" Americans are concerned.

That poor unappreciated fella...:24: Has it ever crossed the minds of some folks that he really isn't all that spectacular? Sometimes I think y'all our trying harder to convince yourselves than anyone who doesn't like him. Man admit he was given the award as a token and move on :24:

I mean it's not like American Democrats or Liberals run the committee over there at the Nobel Peace place...

I am sure he deserves it on some level seeing as how they don't need to impress anyone.

You are right on one thing, it has nothing to do with partisan politcs, but anytime you say anything negative about this guy, you become a neo-con fanatic. Hell I lost faith in the prize when Gore got his (Waits for tomatoes to get thrown) I don't think him being a Democrat matters either, but I am obviously a right wing lunatic because I don't think talking about getting something done in the future means you have accomplished anything, and what he was given it for doing, he hasn't scratched the surface of at least not yet.

I didn't notice.... But if he did, there is no way he could have upstaged the smirks we have had to endure from Dubya for eight long years....

The last three years of his tenure I kept my sanity by only reading transcripts of what he'd said. That way I didn't have to see him or listen to his inability to string a sentence together in an intelligent fashion.

It repulses me when the leader of our country appears dumber than myself as I am a freaking PeaBrain.

Again, I think Barack got it as a collective sigh of relief from the world that Cheney/Bush have left the building. In shambles. But, still, gone. Well, they as figureheads anyways... I'm still waiting on Barack to start undoing some things he promised but so far has not delivered on... But, it hasn't been one year yet.......

lol WHAT. Obama has literally accomplished NOTHING since he took office. This has everything to do with his skin color.
Looks like watever obama's achievements or failures were its cuz of skin colour. When Chicago lost the bid to hold the olympics some guys here said it was cuz of skin colour and now the Nobel peace prize was also cuz of skin colour. Your country is obviously divided.

No, but you get awards for making statements and efforts and bringing in new ideas.

That's why authors get these - they bring in new ideas, make a case, and advocate for the other side.

Obama has implemented a few programs to try to smooth over relations with Islam. He is working to destroy negative stereotypes of Muslims. Which is a good thing, whether Americans agree or not.

So yes in a way, he hasn't materially moved and shaken the world, but has he planted a seed that needed to be planted - yes.

Promises are not worthwhile; it's politics to get in the office, which then means an almost do-what-you-want job; well, not really.

Those telling PresO what to do get that job; PresO gets to tell everyone what "he" is doing..

So, don't hold your breath on those promises. They were empty the minute they were conceived.

As much as I feel Obama is moving in the right direction, all he has done so far is make good speeches. He was nominated for this award a couple of weeks after he became President, wtf??? This seems more like its been given as an encouragement to him to me.

maybe it was incentive for him to do something that heads toward peace...

but that would stagnate progress, unfortunately.
