Imagine if you can ... Would you ?

If tomorrow a Computer Analysis machine was invented to test a drop of your blood and could tell you the exact day and time you will die EXACTLY, but not the cause, would you put a drop in to know that time ?

More seriously, for parents, would you want to know the date and time your children will pass away? This would be especially hard for those would would end up finding out their children would die before them, but not why..

For many of us we live a life not knowing what tomorrow will bring and it is a blessing.. For others it is a curse..

How do you see it and would you take the blood test and want to know what you loved ones test result is ?

No I wouldnt...and I especially wouldnt want to know for my kids.

There actually is a test now for women that will pinpoint exactly when they will go through menopause, so they can pinpoint when the cut off is to have kids. That, I WOULD get done. (If I needed to)

Also I got to ask, can it predict when you will die even if the cause was, for example, a car accident?

:homo: I could be hit by a bus tomorrow or something and I cant see any blood test ever getting invented that could foresee that!

Remember the OP is not about an existing machine but imagining one that could..

The issue with knowing is it can be liberating or a burden..

Good question, would insurance make it mandatory to take the test to get insured ?

Of course that would then defeat the purpose of insurance as you would know the date..

Yes I know, but 20 some odd years ago it was also impossible to tell the sex of a baby as easily as it is today.

Technology moves so fast that perhaps it will be a blood test or a hair test or a something else but what if it ever comes out..

The point still remains that many people have changed their views on many topics..

40 years ago few wanted to know the sex of the baby prior to birth.. We were one of the few that did NOT know what sex our baby was prior to the delivery..

With time comes change.

We do have genetic tests for some diseases. Huntington's disease is a tragic example. There is no cure and there's a 50% chance you will inherit it if one of your parents have it. People with the bad gene normally get the disease between 30 and 50. If you have the bad gene, you will get the disease if you live long enough. There's a blood test for the bad gene and I think it can even predict when onset will occur. Some people opt not to take the test when one of their parents are diagnosed with Huntington's disease. I think I would take the test. If I didn't have the bad gene then I could stop dreading it. If I did, then I wouldn't have any children but would still make the most of the life I had left.

No I'd really rather not know to be honest. I think it would have an interesting effect on your life to know that information. It'd probably make you pretty morbid thinking about it all the time.
