I'm rubbish at all accents.

When I was in the play West Side Story at school, the teacher gave all my lines to another person because my Spanish accent sounded very VERY Welsh :(

EDIT: I am not Welsh. I have a home counties English accent though Zorak says I sound Northen *gives him dirty looks*

I always thought it was "aye".

If you meant the affirmative then it's spelt 'aye' :)

It is spelled that way but I never said I was Scottish. In case ya'll didn't notice Canadians spell some words different than our pals to the south.

ps: Um.... HK..... um.... spelt is a word but it has nothing to do with this topic. The one that would have been proper is spelted the way I spelted it which is " spelled ". Not trying to be picky... just pointing it out.

A local contractor's lady is from Scotland. This was gal approaching 60, she was a beauty! Her accent just about put me over the edge! I could have listened to her talk all day. Would have been a real cranker-upper to hear her say "Good Morning"! :willy_nilly:

You know, I just realized you're from Scotland. Could you record yourself saying the following phrase and post it here?

"I come from a wee little land, where everyone says 'Hi, Hello, and GET YOUR BLOODY PIG OF ME LAND!'."

I noticed while there that the accent varies regionally. Understood the Sydneysiders easily, but those South Australian rednecks really butchered English - and were proud of it too.

She didn't say 'spelt' wasn't a word, she was saying you spelled 'eye' wrong in the form you were using it.saying it should of been 'aye'. :D

I know that but I fingered if they could get picky I could get picky.

The weather here is the shits as it has been for the last few weeks, which included my 12 days off at Christmas of course, and I ain't got me nothin' better to do than fuck around on the internet dreaming about an Ozzie girl whispering stuff that gets me all... well ... you know.

In four years on forums I've definitely picked up a shit ton of UKisms...I'd say 1/4 of my phrasing it totally strange to most of the people I work with.

Hey, you outright stated you were spelling 'eye' correctly, that's all I was commenting on. I never claimed the rest of my sentence was perfect :)

Before the Austin Powers movies, Dad informed the across the street neighbor, the British wife of an American soldier, that he was part of a shagging club, meaning the dancing to beach music kind. Tried to tell him. Oh, the look on that poor woman's face. Bloody wanker won't make that mistake again.

Just watch what phrases you pick up:

Another one, said by a Brit I'm acquainted with here in the States: "Well, I'm not sure if she's home, but since I'm heading that way I'll just go knock her up." Went over about as well as a fart in a space suit.

AND, an African doctor I know told me for some time people thought he was gay because he referred to male friends as boyfriends, typical in his country of origin when speaking in English, same as a woman in the US would say girlfriend. Funnier still hearing the tale from rather imposing 7 foot tall man.

yes. Its only us New South Welshman that can speak all proper like. The rest of the country are a bunch of yobbo's. (keight, I am sure was born here, so she's safe..even if she IS a banana bender now)

Watch this for a classic bogan accent and tell me you still think its sexy:24:

I've heard worse. Heard better too. :D

Oh, phrases I've picked up - bloody in all its variations (and I tend to use it a lot) wanker, tosser, snog (which I picked up from Torchwood), bugger used a noun, verb and adjective...can you tell I watch BBC a lot? Oh, and describing something as right out, straight from watching a lot of Monty Python.
