... when it comes to electronics this year. First it was the iPad shenanigans and I ended up returning the thing. Today I bought a new laptop and it gave me nothing but grief. It kept locking up all the time and once I worked through that issue I couldn't get the display calibrated anywhere near reality. That made it useless for any sort of photo work. Even though that wasn't my main goal I did intend on using it in that fashion to some degree. I wasted my entire day fiddling with the stupid thing and it's going back tomorrow.

My next shot is a bloody netbook. I'm going to keep it simple and use it only for the net and I'll continue to do my photography stuff on my main computer. My main goal now is to get something that actually works so I can relax in my rocker / recliner and surf and post stuff on places like this.

I guess telling you my HP Netbook has been really good for me won't cut it.. :(

I've been having puter problems as well. I had a gateway, dropped it, tried to get it fixed only to find out the motherboard was cracked too, so that's gone. I bought a notebook...yuk, those things are so small, I didn't like it so I returned it for an HP laptop....which drove me nuts because it kept freezing up on me. At the moment, I'm using my daughters laptop, but we had to send this one away to get the cd player fixed and it took 3 weeks to get it back. The desktop is old and slow so I only use that when I'm desperate...lol...someday, I will venture out there into the big bad world of electronics again and hopefully find what I'm looking for.....

It's not really money that's keeping me from getting one at the moment, it's the torture of finding the right one...lol..I mean, I have better ways to spend my money, but if I found the right computer at a good price, I'd buy it....and no, they're far from cheap here, even though it's possible to find a deal if you do your homework....so I've heard anyway...lol

I take your point on money but you started it out with millionare, didn't you?? :)

You know how much a pack of cigarettes costs here?? No? 10 cents to $1 for 20's (Malboro)!

After-sales-service is almost extinct so best way for me is to go for a new or another one (refurbished)...
contraband products are freely sold here.....:)

I dont' smoke but a pack of cigarettes here costs over 10 dollars..I don't know how anybody can afford such a habit, but they do.

Lap tops are so cheap now a days!!

I remember the days when they would sell a lap top on a shopping network for 1500.00 + and remember the dude talking about how this computer comes with 4 GB hard drive and he said I guarantee you will never use all that up :24::24: I remember at the time I was shocked to see a computer with so much hard drive space :p

I'm sure the problem with the HP I dragged home was caused by the display adapter considering all the grief it gave me. I'm sure I got a dud and it's no big deal because I know I can return it. I'll get another one in the near future but it's gunna be considerably more expensive. I've had time to cool down and think about it and you get what you pay for.

Same experience I was having. The main difference is mine did it right out of the box and that concerned me. My sister has a HP and it's been rock solid for her. She and Francis are the reason I went for the HP. Oh well.....

The laptop went back and I'm now firing up the new HP netbook. I've told Mrs. Guyzerr it's one of her Christmas gifts. That way I've left the door open for a kickass laptop for me. :D Pretty smart eh ! :24: Anywhoo it's finished loading the software and it's ready for it's first use. Wish me luck.
