Sad situation for sure. Haven't these guys ever been around a handicapped person before? They may act out but it is a movie theater and he was not armed.

Cause of death was asphyxiation....interesting
Should be treated as a manslaughter case minimum.
Since they were acting as private citizens {security guards}...They should not be able to hide behind being a cop to get away with it.

We can be sure had this been staff at the theater that done such they would be charged.
3 assholes...not one of em had enough balls to say hey I think he has had enough..he gets the idea.

What I can't help but wonder is if the man needed a "health aid", wouldn't it be apparent that the man may of had some sort of condition that would be readily apparent?

I don't see any details about HOW the death occurred. I'm guessing he was placed on his stomach while handcuffed...a big no no as it constricts the diaphragm and can lead to asphyxiation.

No way there's anywhere NEAR enough info in that article to come to an informed opinion about what happened.

"The Fredrick County Sheriff's Office says the death of aa mentally disabled man in police custody has been ruled a homicide"

I might be missing it, but that's coming from who I guess is their county coroner.

I'm also guessing since you stated "I'm guessing he was placed on his stomach while handcuffed...a big no no as it constricts the diaphragm and can lead to asphyxiation" that perhaps the LEO's did cause this man's death.

Although no amount of money could bring a mans life back, I'd be sure to wipe out that sheriff's office coffer and make sure the Sheriff of that county would never get re elected for having such dumbasses on his workforce.

Seriously?

They were NOT on duty

If an off duty cop is drunk and kills somebody in a car accident do you go after the police department?

Am I the only one that finds it really, really odd that they choose this movie to go see?
Why would the caretaker have to leave him inside while going to get the car?
How big was this man? Could he have panicked after a bit while waiting for the caretaker.

None of these excuse what happened. Just questions that I think need some answers to. Me thinks there is a lot more to the story.

So Natasha are you saying one of my old favorite reality shows was all a lie? :D

I can't count the number of perps they arrested face down on Cops.

Perhaps many times they roll them onto their side?

It's not the PUTTING the on their stomachs that does it...it's the LEAVING them there that does.

As for the other response to me, I didn't say that anything was factual...I point blank said I was guessing. To debate a hypothetical would be pointless.

One can roll to his side very easily while on the stomach....would be difficult with two or three guys sitting on you though.
The fact remains he was asphyxiated while in cuffs....how he was asphyxiated has not been given...but assuming it was from sitting on the guy...when he stops moving{from passing out} might be a good time to check on him?...or does one sit for a couple three extra minutes and kill the guy.

Oh wait..."stop resisting"...meanwhile you cant breath so you squirm..thus getting more abuse..sort of an endless cycle....While no one is resisting they are only trying to find a more comfortable position.
Sort of like the knee in the neck..do they honestly believe one wont squirm.

This ordeal reminds me of killing by tazer...taze then demand an order..the individual cant full fill that order as they are being tazed so they just squeeze the trigger again.

These cops are doing nothing to help the reputation of cops...while most cops are good..there are no shortage of bad cops...hell 3 in the same room at one time.

geeze with such a wealth of information why not just hang them and forget a trial

the story has a lot of missing pieces

TM I am surprised you are jumping to a conclusion with such little known. Did you not find holes in the Trayvon Martin case which made you suspect? Is it because they were cops you are convicting them already?

I am only being skeptical because there is so little info on the story other than a guy refused to leave and he died in securities hands. There has to be more to it. If not then hang em high. But we aint there yet.

I usually side with the law....I find it very odd the kid lived this long then a set of handcuffs killed him.
Other actions besides the cuffs caused the asphyxiation.

This case should be getting the same attention as a non handicapped person...This shouldn't be merely swept under the rug because he had downs syndrome.:(
