I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again

I think part of marijuana's or any other drug's "mystique" is that it's illegal and hence forbidden, legalize it and you're taking away it's edge... But I guess that's just my opinion. But then again drinking is legal and people still do it to excess
it has long been my opinion that weed and the rest of them should all be made legal so that commerce in them can be regulated and taxed.

as it stands, the markets are controlled by criminals. you can see the resultant mayhem every day. what you don't see is the enormous revenue drain on the economy supporting the black marketeers on the one hand and the criminal justice system on the other.

there is no quality control over any of it. many people die from contaminated injectable drugs every year.

if these things were legal and sold through regulated venues, none of that would be a problem. the majority opinion says that legalizing is likely to cause a drop rather than an increase in the number of users. countries that have legalized hard drugs have reported reduced violent crime rates.

the other thing most people fail to notice is that in nearly every single country that our military has been deployed to over the past 50 years, their major agricultural product is one or more of those plants. all the libotards and the republithugs ever scream about is oil wars.

vietnam was an oil and dope war. afghanistan is about dope and minerals.

and quite frankly, really heavy pot smokers are useless turds like any other heavy drug or alcohol abusers.

Really? I know quite a few that are very productive members of society. Not only that they don't beat the hell out of their wife or kids when after they smoke it.

me too, like me, for one. i would have killed somebody or been killed by somebody by now if it weren't for weed.

it also alleviates symptoms of hypermania that i can slip into when overstressed by hostile/aggressive douchebags everywhere i go. helps me eat when my stomach gets too wound up, it helps me get over any turtle dick i might be suffering from castration fears that go along with that.

it helps me sleep when i can't sleep.

you and i both are talking about responsible users. i even know lots of people that are highly creative, productive and peace-loving folks who can use hard drugs responsibly. i like to think i can. i've never stuck a needle in me, never been dependant on anything, even weed, only once have even come so close to using so much that it was hurting me financially. my best friend fueled a 7 million dollar gross revenue -- we kept 8% and sleazed a lot of cash on 'accessorial charges' brokering long haul TL freight on what couldn't have been any more than 5 grand.

we only did it on the weekends and not a whole lot, but we beat out all the other agents by having our papers at HQ before anybody else which got us our check cut first.

i was referring to addicts. i work and play on busy streets and in parks and i see plenty of marijuana detritus. not as much as the other drugs, but it's there.

People get addicted to all sorts of things be they legal or otherwise. We will always have that weak segment of society and to restrict the use by those that are responsible is in itself irresponsible.

You're joking, right?

Are there actually people still living on this planet that care if someone smokes weed? (Other than people who have a vested interest in keeping it illegal)

No, I wasn't joking. It's an illegal substance. Why should it be any less enforced than any other illegal substance? The law is the law, regardless of how one feels about it, or in this case, how famous someone might be.

I can't speak for her but do I care if people smoke weed? nope! Should it stay illegal? Yup!

:homo:

Why? Honestly, give me one good reason why? It's equal to or less dangerous than alcohol.

it is FAAAAAAR less dangerous than alchohol IMO. Actually I don't see how smoking pot is dangerous AT ALL.

Your argument isn't 100% solid. It messes with your brain. It screws with your thought processes, makes you think things you shouldn't. People react differently.

Bottom line is, it's illegal. He got busted. Anyone who gets busted should get in trouble for it. IMO, cops aren't doing enough about it.

I heard a few guys talking on the steps of my building one day arranging a drug deal. I called another member on here because I wasn't sure if I should call the cops or not. I was told they likely wouldn't do anything, which is unfortunately true.

would you like to be credited for authorship of that in my 'profundities' collection of 21st century proverbs? exceptionally well stated, sir.

hotty, honey, just because something is illegal does not mean that the law is necessarily constitutionally valid or morally sound. thomas jefferson admonished us that it is the patriot's duty to resist unjust laws.

though hemp was a very important crop in his time, abraham lincoln argued in general against prohibition laws because they did nothing to reduce the demand and only opened the door to criminals to fulfil the demand. that's what is going on now. we, the people, are supporting criminals in our taxes that pay for criminal justice and penal systems to prosecute and punish people for something that should not be a crime.

couple that with the damage to society from the other direction in murder, theft and overdoses and we are talking revenue drains flowing out easily over $100 BIL/annum in all the wrong directions when eeverything is taken into consideration.

also, like guyzer pointed out, it isn't just to punish responsible users because of the irresponsible.

what crime did willie nelson commit? possessing a few ounces of flowers? probable cause for search an odor that the officer thought was marijuana. gimme a break.
